Whats the diff between a bsa sweet 22 and sweet 17? The 17 seems to have a larger downrange optic, which should make a brighter image.

This is true for high powered spring guns. I have a 1,000 fps break barrel in .177 and it destroyed the first cheapo scope I bought for it, 250 bucks down the drain. Scope lenses are specifically shaped and supported so as to resist stresses upon the glass from one direction. Putting low end scopes on air guns is a quick way to destroy them.
