Can we agree that most assault rifles from the past 60 years have been based on just these 3 rifles?
>>
If you go back even farther, the mother of all assault rifles was the StG-44, with the Garand's rotating bolt being the father.

It's amazing that despite the AR-18 being a commercial failure it had essentially perfected the gas piston operation and most gas piston assault rifles these days copy it.
>>
>>34208765
>commercial failure

AR-18 had a lot of issues as shown from the U.S. and UK testing in the 1960s.
>>
>>34208641
Can we go back farther and say every small arm since the arquebus is an unoriginal derivative of said firearm because they all steal the principle of using the pressure generated by combusting gunpowder in a cylindrical chamber with one low resistance opening to propel a small, dense projectile out of said opening.

Yes, but the reason none of these issues were ever solved was because not enough money was being made in order to iron out all of the issues.

Had the AR-18 seen more widespread adoption besides small sales to Law Enforcement and certain military units, there would have been more money to go into further refinements of the AR-18.
>>
>>34208797
I thought the AR-18 was only used by the IRA.
>>
Most niggers were based on most niggers
>>
>>34208815
Nope. The AR-18 was never officially adopted as a standard service rifle. But small sales of AR-18s and AR-180s were made to law enforcement and certain military units.

A good example of military use would be Botswana, they purchased some 400 AR-18s from the UK in 1976.

I just like the lack of a buffer tube which allows for folding and/or removable stocks; was it still direct impingement?
>>
>>34210217
No, AR-18 is gas piston driven.
>>
>>34210491
And just like that, I have discovered the perfect "modern" rifle.
>Readily available ammo & mags
>simple construction
>reliable action
>reasonable accuracy

Are there any downsides besides rarity?
>>
>>34210564
How does it compare to the other ARxAK hybrid (Galil)?
>>
>>34210564
Some company that produces unsafe shit rifles that fall apart in your hands made some of them one time.

( I. O. and the other names they had)
>>
>>34210564
>>34210578

the 18 may not be an AK piston (mass) wise but it's still inherently disadvantaged barrel harmonics wise compared to the 15. I can't get over how great free floated match barrels and low pro (adjustable) gas blocks make the 15 when run wiht a lightweight free float handguard. it's the end all be all of rifles. nothing can compete. for a 1 man army kind of dude (1st shot accuracy) accuracy and weight are the most critical parts....

halils are full blown AKs, they have no AR blood/lineage.
