Actively no. Will I? Yes and no.

I plan to teach my children gun use/safety with the same gun their great grandfather first used. Eventually it will be one of theirs. And my guns will pass on to my children. So I plan on keeping firearms in the family and some of them being family heirlooms that are used.

Will I give a 10 year old his/her own .22? Probably not. If they get into competition shooting will we work something out? Probably.

My dad bought me my mossberg 500 when I was 12 so I could hunt and have something to grow into. I was a big kid and grew fast so it wasn't that bad. I learned to shoot waaay before that with my dads 10/22. My dad didn't just buy me the shotgun though. He calculated my weekly allowance, which was like fucking $10, and took my allowance away for 20 or so weeks and I couldn't have been happier. Looking back felt like a good lesson. Plus when we went bird hunting I could pull out MY shotgun. It's literally my favorite gun, and put thousands of shells through it. I'm almost 30 and it's almost an extension of me when I shoot
