Should I buy a handgun or shotgun for home defense?
I have in mind a 12gauge Mossberg shotgun or Glock handgun.
An age old question
You have to outweight the pros and cons
Shotguns
>Cheap
>Reliable
>Will really fuck up someone's day
>long
>low capacity
Handguns:
>High capacity
>really need to practice regularly so you're not a shit shot
>easy to conceal somewhere or grab in a hurry
>shot placement is absolutely key

It has been said many times, and I subscribe to the idea as well
>A handgun is to get you to your rifle or shotgun
Either one works. Shotgun is better at killing people outright if you go by statistics.

If you're only going to own one, and do not intend to CC the handgun, shotgun is the logical choice.

I also support this.
However they have spreader chokes and this makes it even more effective since you get a semi-video game amount of horizontal spread.
#1 Buckshot is probably the best thing, people go on about 000 but the smaller stuff is still like being hit by a .22 and there's usually 3 times as many pellets (ie, chances to lance an artery or organ).
Don't try to use the shotgun for intimidation, just use it, have a shell loaded already otherwise as soon as you rack the slide the other guy is going to draw on you with (a shitty duct taped revolver).
If you're worried about capacity, go order some of those Aguila mini-shells and have those loaded in the gun following the standard shell you'll already have loaded.

Buckshot will work, personally I'd go with slugs.
