machine gun fire with tracers? A good gunner should be able to down normal copter drones easily when it hovers. However, for the picture OP posted, well, that is harder, much harder...

You take components from a microwave and direct them towards the drone. All you need are some very rudimentary iron sights, or sloppily mount a scope so you can see about where you're directing them.
Don't even bother with firearms.

>shoot down a drone
Use a truck/humvee/stryker mounted 360 radar linked to EO camera and multichannel jammer, with optional 2-5kw laser.
proximity fused flak shells for common ground based autocannons.
Steel Rain in potato cannon style.

You asked for an effective way, not an effective way that wasn't "too much trouble"

>Phalanx CIWS

>>34198991

In a perfect world I'd have a live M42 Duster asnd a plethora of lovingly restored and hoarded proximity fused AA shells, behind my guesthouse.
But as it is, I'd have to resort to the Mossberg, and #4 shot.

yeah i remember at least twice while in the army, we got to mag dump with the good ole m16a1's at a radio control styrofoam planes. i remember a platoon of shooters, fucktons of ammo, and my m16 was so hot it was cooking off rounds, but i remember no down planes.
