Outside of its expressed design brief of stopping cars at checkpoints, I cant see this thing being really all that useful. Especially when 20mm grenades that dont punt you like a .50 already exist. High velocity grenade launchers really have limited utility IMO.

I love how the 1st shot is as inaccurate as all the others. Which was too bad because I loved single fapping with it and it just wasnt giving me headshots like I wanted to.

7.62mm @ 60 rounds would work if they were straight wall cases (basically a really long 5.7x28 case without a bottleneck).

They'd have about as much firepower as a .223 probably, so more or less its like AK rounds except you can stuff more of them in a (Quad Stack) magazine.

A quad stack magazine is rather Big and heavy. M/C has magnetic plates on his armor that he can just toss those things on. I dont think yer average soldier would've carried as much ammo as him.

Master Chief is 8 feet tall, as strong as a horse (probably 400lbs), and his power armor comes out total to weighing 1200 lbs. The man has no endurance problems, and he can flip an armor-plated car all by himself.

660 rounds of 7.62 is more about "where to put it" than the weight. He does not have a Backpack from the looks of it.

The point is 15 heavy buckshot pellets are alot of opportunities to cause a wound somewhere, the covenant armor suits had plenty of weak points.

Thats a gameplay balance mechanic though, they didnt make it useless against shields. In reality it probably would have bounced off those shields just like a shitty 9mm round would.

And they kinda missed their calling with that, they should have did rock paper scissors with it so that this mighty weapon actually wasn't useful against anything but Flood (or shield deprived spartans)

Remember even the HUD on this weapon is computerized, literally all their shit is digital and probably has digital fire controls too, while being ruggedized against space EM interference.

The ammunition? The vast majority of the UNSC firearms you see typically use cased ammo.

If you do it more like the MA5C and beyond, it should be possible. The AR performs extremely differently in the later Halos compared to the first.

For the feed system you'd either have to figure out and copy the Korobov system which did not need much (or any) travel space for the bolt behind the magazine due to its unique lifter setup, or use a telescoping bolt. The latter might need the main recoil spring to be ahead of it rather than behind. The extremely short length of pull is fine since its meant to be used with big fat chest plates.

If it really has to replicate the performance of the MA5B, consider not rifling the barrel at all.
