Hi guys, I bought this remington 700 used (from 1981) at an antique shop a couple weeks back.

There was almost no information about it, but it's in pretty good shape and came with a scope and leather strap.

My only hangup is that I can't figure out what type of scope I have except that it's made in Japan. The scope rings holding it in place say Weaver USA, but the scope itself has a Japanese quality cert sticker on the bottom.

I'll post more pictures after this.

Oh, BTW

3-9 is the standard for deer rifles.

Also, that might be a k-mart brand, they used to make those as a combo for rifles they sold back in the 80's. They are kind of shit, but kind of not, as 80's America had higher standards, and didn't start buying chinese junk 24/7.

You don't need a bigger scope...maybe a better one, but shoot it before you start throwing money around.

The real cost difference for scopes is light gathering and durability. A nicer scope will give a brighter image when its darker out (early morning or late afternoon, when most deer are visible), and hold up to drops, getting wet, etc. Japanese manufacturing has decent standards.
