BE Meyers edition
Previous thread: >>34192421
Installed a Noveske CHF 14.5" midlength LCLP barrel on my AR and took it to the range. It ran various .223 ammunition brands just fine but started blowing primers when I switched 5.56. Any idea how to fix this?
Currently using an H1 buffer so I ordered an H2 to see if that helps. I do know that Noveske has the gas ports on their midlength barrels pretty wide so I may have to keep upping the buffer weight.
Red pill me on BE Meyers
Only recently (last 12mo) have I started to hear about them, mostly with MAWL
Why do I care about their 249F flash hider
Why would I buy their ASR flash hider over silencerco when they are the same price? (I could understand an aftermarket ASR linear comp for example that SiCo doesn't make)
>>34194640
Blown primers are shit ammo not a gun being overgassed
Let me guess IMI 5.56
>>34194664
249F flash hider gets you just past 16" if you pin it on a 13.7" barrel. It's also the best performing flash hider on the market
>>34194667
You guessed it. I brought my own .223 but the only 5.56 the range had in stock was IMI Razor 77gr. Should I not even bother putting the H2 buffer in?
>>34194640
Did you order a 223 barrel or a 556 barrel? If a barrel isnt reamed right that csn happen.
>>34194686
5.56
>>34194567
I'll fucken do it m7 dont think i wont
>>34194690
I see you were using IMI. That razor core was overgassed in my carbine, shot like shit too.
>>34194681
IMI can be shit for a number of reasons
One is it tends to be hot as fuck, obvious sign of overpressure ammunition is a popped primer
There was awhile where primer seating die seemed to be shit so primers were also seated like ass anyway
Try out some MEN Swiss M193 or American Eagle M193
And not that it makes a huge difference but XM193/XM855 etc. are QC rejects for various traits. But trying to determine a barrel issue.. although I promise you it isn't (and I don't even like Noveske)... helps to know it's assuredly not the ammo.
>>34194707
If I can put a T1 on my mod 1 you can do an m2 on a mod 0. It'll look great just do it
>>34194710
>>34194711
Glad to hear I'm not the only one and that it's most likely the ammo. I'll pick up some AE M193 and see how that works. Thanks guys

Just bought pic related for my basic bitch bushmaster upgrade (emr v3, brownells btac midlength barrel also) and my question is, does anyone have any experience with this optic? The reviews seem very positive.
>inb4 buy a strike eagle, too spendy
When installing a set screw type gas block, is it necessary to dimple the barrel? I'd prefer to just torque it down with some loctite and not break the nitride coating
>>34195165
Also, I got this to mount it in. Any of you variable optic gurus give me some soothing words of approval? This is my first foray into scopes, all my guns have either micro redots, or eotech/magnifier.
>>34195178
No, dimpling just helps you line up the block and port. Pinning the block is how you secure it so it can't move. A little loctite should keep it from going anywhere though.
>>34195165
>>34195206
Good buy... Bushnell has some good scopes, mostly their Bushnell Elite optics.
But for the Price the 1-4x24mm is a good buy, how much did you pay?
Good mount too, its not Quick Detach but Aero Mounts are good for the money.. You did good.
My "cheap" optic. I got a Leupold Mar AR Mod 1, 1.5-4x20mm Firedot.
Got a smoking deal on it, the scope for $300 (normal price $450), and the mount for $50
Disregard my PRS stock, I was swapping lowers and uppers.
>>34195165
Noscopes here, what does that fold up knurled level do?
>>34195282
What lower is that? I've been looking for one with full auto markings.
>>34195282
I saw it on brownells for 250, looked around and got it for 225 shipped on amazon. I can't wait to try it, and compare it to my eotech/magnifier combo, see what works better for range transition.

spikes tactical OR anson tactical arms (you have to get their parts kit because a few pins are proprietary threaded)

It's the lever that switches the zoom from 1x through 4x. This scope was designed for 3 gun, which is why it's larger than normal.

/arg/'s thoughts on the emr v3? My only concern is that it doesn't have mlok slots on the 3 and 9 O'clock positions. Looks Hella comfy, going to put an mlok afg on it for that sweet TOB.
>>34195362
Not really a fan of tube handguards, but they're well designed and the mounting procedure is pretty ingenious. I wouldnt worry about 3 or 9 o'clock slots. IMO lights are best at 45 degree offset from the top picatinny strip to allow more gripping options and to cast any muzzle shadow lower in your field of view.
I'm going to put an SFMB on my 10.3 and you can't stop me
>>34195379
Yeah I'm going to put a vtac light mount and a streamlight polytac in it. I don't feel like putting my surefire scoutlight on my budget ar.

I disagree, I really like the look of tubular handguards, like the troy ones, and this one is extremely affordable. If I didn't already have a magpul str buttstock, I'd pair it with an ace entry stock for maximum tubualrity. Just think, your rifle is one long tube, with a tubular 1-4x scope tube on top. Sounds fantastic right?

They make great shotgun inline mounts. The lowest profile you can get.
Is there a general consensus or opinion on Savages new MSR line yet? I was long at the 10 hunter in .308 as an ar10, and the initial review I've read are great, bit I wonder if there's any other good ar10 options around that price range.
>>34196470
They're a very good value, they have excellent barrels. Their AR10s are top notch.
What's the best point sling to get for an AR?
I'm currently using a 7 dollar amazon sling.
I don't want something super fancy, but a bit better quality and long enough that I can at least wear the gun. Looking for 2 or 3 point. Don't feel like undoing the castle nut just to put in a single point adapter.

Since the day the ar-15 was adopted, there's been rumors of it's replacement.
It's not gonna happen until laser rifles of some shit like that.
Are SCR's allowed here?
>>34196530
The new combat rifle isn't meant to replace the AR15. It'll be like in WWII where some soldiers carried SMGs for close range engagements and others had full power rifles for longer range engagements.

The plan is to get a 7.62 combat rifle right now within the next year or two, then some where down the road it will be converted to a 6.5mm caliber.

Because if it's not a Colt it's just a fucking knockoff that you're either buying because you're poor and can't afford something as good (aka, you buy BCM), or you're middle class and want to feel like you're rich so you tell the kids that they can't go to McDonald's every day this month because daddy's got to waste money on a more expensive knockoff of Colt that you think is just as good but it's actually not.

Are catch cans/clean side separators a meme? Is blowby building up on my intake valves something I should worry about? I'm running full synthetic oil so I was hoping that it wouldn't crud up as much. Can I just shoot Seafoam Spray into the throttle body to clean them out? I read online the particles could cause damage after separation. Is that something to be concerned about?

mfw my colt preban is worth more than a new bcm or noveske
Is this guy a fucking giant or is the gun a toy. It looks tiny at this angle

Has anyone else noticed the same trend I'm noticing?
Look at how almost all of the Colts ITT like >>34197590 and >>34197640 have imperfections. A scratch here. A mark there. Some anodizing wear over here. Little to no superfluousness. The owner not obviously taking an hour to setup the perfect photo.
Contrast this with the other ARs ITT like >>34196281 and >>34197687 and elsewhere on /k/ including the AR threads, where it's pretty much the exact opposite. The rifles look like they've never been shot. Lots of superfluousness. The picture taker obviously took a long time attempting to create the perfect photo so they can have day/k/are comment on it and hopefully justify their astronomically priced purchase (that added price, by the way, not actually making the rifle any more functional or reliable than a Colt).
I think this speaks volumes about the people who do buy Colts, and the people who don't. The people who buy Colts clearly buy them to actually shoot them and use them. The people who don't buy Colts clearly buy them so they can spend hours every day taking new photos to show off to strangers on the internet, then put it right back into the safe. Oops, accidentally got a little scratch on it in the process of taking a photo that you can barely notice unless you look real close? Oh shit! Now they won't be able to sleep for the next week thinking about it and will probably try and find someone they can shell out hundreds of dollars to to fix the imperfection.
Colts are for people who want to use their rifle. Not-Colts are for everyone else.

Catch cans are for hi performance shit, we have 3 pickups right now that are going over 250k miles with the original drivetrains and zero issues with them engine wise.

Then why did the government give fn the contract for m4s?
>>34197753
Oh did you buy your colts new as they currently are with the parts they currently consist of?
>>34197760
So you're saying as long as I don't drive like a nigglet then I will never need to worry about it? I bought it with 74k on it and I'm working my way through all the preventative maintenance that I can.

Do you see this? Do you see this right here? Go grab your AR and look on the left side. Does it have a picture of a colt horse engraved in it? Does it have the most important 4-letter word in America, "COLT", right next to it?
Then I'm afraid I've got some bad news. You see, you wasted your money on a crappy AR made by some fly by night company that has absolutely no history. That has absolutely no heritage. That absolutely nobody outside of your hipster friends even knows about, and even if they did they wouldn't buy it because they'd be smart enough to realize there's no good reason to buy an AR from any other company besides COLT.
Because when you buy COLT, you buy quality. People like to bitch and moan and claim you're "paying extra for the pony". You're damn shitting right we are. We're paying extra for a high quality no-bullshit meant-to-be-used-and-abused-and-still-work (not kept in a safe so you can show it off to your internet "friends") product made by a high quality no-bullshit company that's been making guns in this country for CENTURIES. Not a couple of years. Not a decade. FOR ONE HUNDRED SIXTY MOTHER FUCKING YEARS. People buy AKs because of their "history"? All I can say is LOL.
Anyway, COLT owners feel free to post ITT. Non-COLT owners stay the fuck out

>>34197809
Your special snowflake AR is in fact no better than a COLT at its core; if anything it's worse because it was designed to have pictures taken of it, not designed to actually be used like a COLT is. The only thing that makes it "better" (according to people like you) is some boutique company whose CEO probably wears a beret and large thick glasses with non-perscription lenses in them slapped on some higher quality furniture, railz, a fancier rollmark, a few other accessories and charged you an extra grand or two for it to take advantage of naive hipster Apple-fanboy type fools like you.
What you fail to realize is that us COLT owners laugh at pathetic vain people like you who are so obsessed with their image that they're willing to waste thousands of dollars on what is infact an inferior product. What you fail to realize is that you can easily (and if you're wise, should) take a COLT and add all those same extra accessories and in the end you'll have a better rifle for less money.
All I can say is LOL to people like you.
