WA
A
Discuss WA stuff.

For example I want to go hiking/camping somewhere. Where should I go? Also, I'm looking for a non static range, where I can move from target to target and not just stand there firing one round every 2 seconds. Is there a range like this west of the Cascades or do I need to find my own innawoods pit?
>>
>>34191001
Who lives in Washington outside of Seattle
>>
>>34191001

Innawoods is best. I usually go to Capitol forest that is North of Olympia. 100k plus acres of all that land you can shoot in.

Why would you want to live anywhere near the seattle metro area when anywhere just east of the cascades is objectively more /comfy/
>>
I currently live in Orange County but I grew up here and am looking to move back spring 2018. Kinda don't want to live in Seattle but what are some k places I can still get a machinist job?
>>
>>34191049
Because it's difficult to find decent paying jobs on the east side of the state.
>>
>>34191311
Kitsap shipyards are usually looking for machinists.
>>
>>34191355

This right here.

good pay.
good hours.
good employees for the most part.
>>
>>34191017
lakewood here, except for the ponders pawnshops and that new Welchers range, i dont know where else to go, i havent been here very long
>>
Bass are biting.
>>
>>34191395
I'll take a look, hopefully I don't have to live in Bremerton tho.
>>
>>34191395
Also there are a surprising amount of /k/ommandos, and a couple of LGSes with reasonable (~$20) transfer fees. There are ranges in Bremerton and Poulsbo and MAXIMUM INNNAWOODS is over on the Olympic Peninsula in the national forest and near Olympia.
>>
>>34191326
Good luck finding a job in Seattle that will cover your rent and still leave any pennies for ammo.
>>
>>34191463
I'm right outside Olypmia and the only spots I knew about have been covered up or blocked off.. Back to bench shooting at Evergreen -_-

>>
>>34191589
Yeah, you make good money, but you're also paying $2900/mo for a studio apartment. You'd better be making REAL good money.
>>
>>34191001
the filter in that pic is really annoying.
>>
>>34191616

>$2900 for a studio apartment

Try shopping around
>>
I live in Kitsap area because of navy. Olympic park is awesome. I also know of a spot on the oly peninsula where they used to log that is good for shooting
>>
>>34191001
Good hikes:

Lake serene
Barclay lake
Eagle lake
Anything in Icicle creek canyon
Anything on the PCT north of rainy pass
Rachel lake
Gothic basin

Basically anything longer than five miles is good, it gets you away from the riff-raff day-hikers.

It's a good place to be a gun owner, pretty much any non-felon can get a gun, CC permits are granted to anybody.

There are a bunch of good places to shoot. Dozens of gravel pits and empty clear cuts out in the middle of nowhere along highway 2, near Darrington, basically any highway going through the cascades.

Don't move to Seattle. It is expensive and degenerate. I made the mistake of moving here and I live less than a mile from a 20 foot statue of Vladimir Lenin. Seriously. The farther away from Seattle you get, the more rednecks, libertarians and conservatives you'll come across.

Aside from the shit weather nine months out of the year and the progressive degeneracy in Seattle, Washington is a pretty alright place.
>>
Find your own spots faggot
>>
>>34191691
This. Will add that if you follow I 90 east, you will go through the Wenatchee forest, which have lots of forest service roads you can innawoods frome
>>
>>34191569
You ever go shooting down by Suncrest?
>>
>>34191355
I worked in shipyards for about seven years, four in one yard and three in another

Great pay, mostly great group of guys once you're one of the boys and not a new guy, but regularly working 70+ hour weeks and most often having shitty upper management really takes its toll on you

>>34191462
If you want to live farther up north and not on the peninsula there's one in Bellingham (I think), Dakota Creek in Anacortes (I was there for three years and they were great people), Nichols Brothers in Freeland (I was there for four years, good people but management was pretty bad and when I was there they had too much work and not enough employees and they worked me to the bone), and I'm sure there are more in the Everett-Seattle area but Vigor is the one that stands out to me there, they have a great reputation and I tried getting hired on there after the previous two but with no luck

And also there's always Boeing, if you can get through the frequent layoffs and can really get your foot in the door and be in like Flynn there's a really great career
>>
>>34191842

>>
>>34191878

Well anywhere is better than chicago. But in regards to places that are actually habitable. It's garbage. Speed traps and cops everywhere, property values are through the roof because of the military flux, only reliable employment is PSNS unless you want to work in tacompton or seattle, druggies everywhere, traffic is shit if your trying to get anywhere near PSNS between 3-5, I could go on.
>>
>>34191878
You clearly aren't from around here

Renton is better than
>tukwila, especially the hill
>Des Moines
>burien
>Kent
>sea tac
>shoreline
>Lynnwood

Literally on and on
>>
>>34191878

You should also go see Spokane, Aberdeen, yakima and richland if you think renton is the only bad part.
>>
Is Washington really that bad for guns? I know Metro Seattle is a shithole like most metros, but I might want to live near the city and commute to work in the future if the tech scene is really as good as I've heard.
>>
>>34192006
It's good for now. AG McFaggotron keeps pushing an AWB and it keeps failing.

Bro, I live on the east side. There's fucking nothing but farming and service industry. There's no good money unless you are in a trade and those are limited since everyone else is poor as fuck so they aren't hiring carpenters/welders/masons.

>>
>>34192038
Is an attorney general even supposed to have that much direct influence with legislation?
Aside from him trying to push shit, and what I'd guess is generally strict laws in the metro, WA is pretty chill about guns right?
>>
>>34191462

Bremerton is shit, Silverdale is not that bad.

>>34191463
The only few reasons to live here. We had a mini meet up last fall, seven ppl including myself showed up.
>>
>>34192164
Apparently it's legal within our state constitution. It's the only state I've lived in where that's been a thing tho.

The metro areas actually can't have strict gun control because the state constitution has a pre-emption claus. Washington is pretty fucking cool despite the memes. It would be way cooler without Seattle and all the fucking Boeing boomers and millennial hipsters tho.
>>
>>34192243
That sounds pretty chill, actually. I see lots of horror stories about Seattle ruining the whole state regarding legislation so it's nice to know there are things in place for it.
As far as jobs go, what does central or eastern WA have to offer? I'm sure it's worse than Seattle for my skills but I just want to know what kind of options I'd have.
>>
>>34192282
Do you like agriculture? Or are you a carpenter? Any trade? Otherwise you're probably going to end up in a service industry job. There's the odd higher paying job that isn't one of those things but they're not plentiful. Wenatchee has an Alcoa plant that's shut down right now because of a dispute with the PUD.
>>
>>34192243

Is it bad that if Best Korea did launch a nuke at the U.S. that I hope Seattle would get hit?

How convenient.
I'm moving to Tacoma for work in 5hrs.

Why does everyone say fuck King County? Is it just the presence of Seattle libtards that youre avoiding or are there legal reasons I should want to avoid being there whilst in possession of firearms?

No. I don't know if I want LA or SEA to get a nuke more.
>>34192311

Any where around Mt Rainier is good. Morton, Elbe, mineral, ashford and beyond all have plenty of shooting spots.

Should we organize a WA meet up? I knew there were /k/ommandos here but I've never met any.
Currently live in Tacoma. I'm going innawoods out in ashford Saturday actually.
>>
>>34192282

the next legislative session isnt for a few more months, but around when fall starts the democrats (along with the AG and the squad) will push for putting the AWB on the ballot as initiative. Does 20-30min outside of seattle count?
>>
>>34191616
>tfw $600 rent in the heart of the city

it's not that difficult to live here if you lower your standards.

most of the high cost apartments are because the tech companies employ kids straight out of college so they still hold the standards of their parent's lifestyle.

same goes with owning a car in Seattle, most of the residents come from cities where you need a car, so they can't drop the idea that a car isn't necessary in a city you can walk to a whole foods, Kroger, and Safeway within 15 min
so they end up paying for $100+/month parking and car payments/insurance/maintenance/gas

anyone that has lived on their own outside of college dorms/family home can figure it out.
>>
>>34192006

What's wrong with the Lenin statue? It's great. It's not meant to support communism at all anyway. The guy that brought it here was a professor that saw it scheduled to be torn down in Russia, but managed to mortgage his house and shit to pay to have it moved here. The point of it was to highlight the unspoken animosity and resentment the people had to the communist leaders. The artist took what little liberties he was afforded and sculpted a rough and imperfect representation of a man that looks ever so slightly apprehensive

I don't think they're SUPPOSED to, but the anti-gunners are desperate, so they're doing literally anything they can think of.

A nonviolent misdemeanor with no convictions prior or since.
Sentence: 3 years summary probation and $300 restitution

No, no, no and nope.
No violence.
No assault.
No drugs.
No domestic scuffle.
No mental health issues.
No threats to anyone.
No prior record.
No violent history.
No restraining orders.
No yelling "fire" in a movie theater.
No insulted police officers.
No vulgarity.
No public intoxication.
Nothing you would ever think could possibly preclude firearm ownership. Yet Washington thinks so.

Just stay away from WA then. Would it help if you did something about that charge in the state you got convicted in? I can't say go get your rights back because you never lost them, but expungement (sic) maybe? I have a felony from WA but I reinstated my rights and have been buying guns for a while and have a ccw but sometimes I wonder if I would still get turned down in other states like you even though I reinstated my gun rights..?
>>
>>34199294
>>34199319
I have an idea, what if you try to get your rights back on that charge in a WA state superior court, the charge does take your rights away in this state, petition for them back in this state then. In theory it should work and a judge could reinstate your rights back on that charge in this state.
>>
>>34199136
I've told your ass before. Talk to a WA firearms attorney, you can get that fixed in less than a month.
>>
>>34199363
Why bother. If it's a long gun, he gets it tax free k. Oregon anyway. Plus Oregon has the much better shops (NW Armory). And assuming he's an OR resident, he can't buy a hand gun across the moat anyway

I guess I just have a warped view. I live in Couv, but work in Gresham. Every single Oregon resident I know doesn't cross the bridge short of a death situation. They all simple can't fathom going up there when they can do stuff tax free down there. Couple that with the fact that the gun shops in Vancouver suck, and I just have a hard time imagining why you'd cross the border for any reason. Now, if your a WA resident who was rejected, that's a lot more understandable. But I think I'd just move if that was the case. As it is, if the AWB passes, I'm going to Idaho, Utah, or Montana

Tell me about Tacoma, anon. I heard it's the place to be if I want the big boy jobs of Seattle without having to deal with as much of the politics, congestion, and cost of living.
Would being north or south of Seattle be the safer bet, assuming I worked in the city?

Moving into Seattle (Eastlake) next week. I was worried my ultralib housemates would not be comfortable with my guns but they seem to be cool about it. Looking forward to coming back from a day out and taking over the kitchen table for cleaning and seeing how they really feel.
>>
>>34200194
I mean, honestly traffic north or south of seattle is going to suck at this point. Too many people with too little infrastructure. Cost of living is going to be about the same north or south, as long as you get above shoreline or below west seattle (east or west of I-5) then you should be in the same price range. The advantage of Tacoma is that while it is farther south than White Center/Burien/Des Moines/Renton/Auburn/Kent you can actually find quality places to rent with non-ghetto neighbors without totally getting fucked.

But get on top of it because people are beginning to invade fast and soon Tacoma will be competitive. I would also seriously consider public transit options such as the bus/sounder because traffic really does suck all the way from Olympia to Everett during peak hours every single day.

I rode the sounder for work every day for a year from Tacoma to Seattle with my bike and it was cozy. Had to off-body carry but I had a good bag that I could rip open one handed. Hopefully they finish the damn light rail soon.

Best of luck

Don't worry about it. The insane lefties have been pushing a quixotic AWB bill in the state legislature for the last two decades, only to have it defeated every year. They know it has no chances of passing, but since state representative elections are so local, all they have to do is pander to the one demographic in their district. That's how Kshama Sawant became a Seattle city councilwoman; because her district is literally the epicenter of gay marxists outside of SF.

It's nice if you are in college (hopefully not in liberal arts bs) or are retired. Otherwise the job market is dominated by the schools and the hospital and everything else is dead end service bullshit that doesn't pay.

On the other hand, if you are a ski/backpacking bum who doesn't care about money it is heaven on earth.
>>
>>34200442
Linuxfest was great. It's a nice little town and the people there are usually friendly, it's just dominated by WWU most of the year and WWU is pretty standard as far as left leaning schools go.

Tacoma is definitely one of the few places around the sounds where a good portion of vehicles have "guns n coffee" stickers and the gun stores are full of patrons every day. Plus the proximity to JBLM means sweet milsurp shopping if you're into that. I'm pretty sure the county as a whole voted against 594 and most stupid legislation. All of the leftists stay around UWT and downtown but its pretty blue collar besides that.
>>

You are not incorrect compared to parts of America but Tacoma is more friendly than Seattle by a big margin imo. Lived here 20 years of my life and I talk to people on the street and on transit all the time without weirdness. Had someone ask me for directions just this morning downtown without awk.

I think you misunderstood. We hate everyone as a matter of course. Polite masks the distrust we have. PNW folks are some of the most friendly you'll meet. But good luck becoming friends with them. The mistrust runs deep. Especially for outsiders.

Seattle/Tacoma doesn't count. They've never been a good example of what this state is. it's like trying to base Oregon on Portland alone

Fair point, the only things I can think to counter this is my TCC experience where I made a lot of friends who were 10-25 years older than me and genuinely nice. Still see them a lot. Eastern WA definitely has some nicer people in the small towns but they probably hated me inside because I was an outsider lol
>>
>>34200415
hopefully it never passes and seattle is taken out by la-hares when Rainer goes boom. It would be a net positive in this state to get rid of all the hipster cali transplants that now call seattle home. I lived over there for 6 months and the best thing there was the cancer treatment. The older liberals in seattle are pretty chill though, they dont give a shit about gun control and just want to be left alone, same mentality of people on the peninsula really more like left leaning libertarians then what we would now call liberals. I suppose it comes from the same mentality of people on the upper peninsula in Michigan. People moved to WA back in the day to be on the frontier and be left the fuck alone. That carries on to all true PNW natives for the most part.

I lived there for a year while I lived in Walla Walla. I'm trying to move back to WWPD next year and when I do I'm definitely buying a house in Dayton. That town is so chill and the bakery is baller.

Yes but sound transit admitted the train is not going to help with traffic at all. It's literally the biggest scam in us history

probs is my dude. but save me from i-5 somehow pls.
>>
>>34202630
literally nothing short of a recession is going to improve traffic, and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you. light rail just gives you the option of not sitting in traffic.

I take the ferry and then walk. Not a big deal.

Fuck living anywhere on the I-5 corridor. I lived in Olympia for 10 years then moved to Eastern WA for school and work, but after 5 years I was forced back to Western WA settled in Kitsap. As soon as I can I'm going back to Eastern WA.

Probably.

Doesn't change the fact we'd be better off without Murray, Shalama Shuwant, and Cap Hill's shitty politics.

I was stationed at Ft Lewis for a few years.

WA is a great place, and I sometimes miss it, although, the whole time I was there, I was waiting on more gun control. It's a shame such a great state is so badly infected with liberals.
I keep wanting to go back and visit, still have a few friends and my brother-in-law lives up there.

Leaving richland next month to move to Seattle. Maple Leaf area, specifically. There is less radiation in Seattle. Am I making a good decision?
>>
>>34203527
I work in maple leaf/northgate. Its a good neighborhood, nice mix of just about everyone and everything. Avoid northgate and 5th ave during rush hour, it gets backed up all the fuck.

you at the far end of seattle though so plan ahead for traffic if you wanna go anywhere downtown or south of downtown.
>>
>>34202961
thats my plan. From Eastern Wa originally, tried living in seattle in 2013-2014. Going back to try again now that I got my electrician license.
>>
>>34203553
I work as an electrician so I wont necessarily be going to the same place every day. I guess this could be a really shitty decision to move there for work huh?

IF your job takes you across the city then yes. if any of your job will take you south of UW youre looking at traffic as a regular part of your work. the only saving grace may depend on the time of day you'll be traveling from your position in the north to any other point south of the montlake cut/i-5 bridge

My job also takes me all over the city, however it tends to keep me at sites for a few years at a time. I had been commuting from the south to West seattle which was preddy gud. But now its south ALL the way to the northgate area. Shitsux but the pay makes up for it.,
>>
Any of you faggots go to UW?
>>
>>34202938

Shoots decently enough. Just not a long distance shooter. Up to 200-300 yards. At that point probably can use a slingshot and get about as good.

Settle in Kitsap and take the ferry. Kitsap Transit is starting a passenger ferry from Bremerton to Seattle in July that has a 25 minute travel time.

I got lucky I guess. The students did most of the teaching for the class I took and I paired up with someone who was a fast learner so we both got to take one of the small boats out and mostly just chill and sail on our own.
>>
>>34204521

Traffic will never EVER get better. Density advocates will keep pushing, the Seattle S.S.R. will keep growing, and the fucks in power will keep destroying roadway in favor of transit, bicycle lanes, and wider "pretty" sidewalks. The only way ST3 could even be implemented was to completely remove lanes of traffic along I-90 and many surface streets. They expect everyone to bicycle or take mass transit like good little proles.
>>
>>34202987
You posted this same picture in another thread talking about places to shoot on public land. If that's a picture of DNR logging land in King County, is that in the big chunk of public land around Howard Hanson Reservoir? All the other sizeable chunks of DNR land in King Co. are Marckworth State Forest near Duvall (no shooting), Tiger/Cougar Mountain State Park (no shooting), and Mt Si (no shooting). There just have to be more flatlands closer to Seattle that are actually open to public target shooting.

>>34203062
The big problem is most of the land outside of the city is either
1. Unincorporated exurbs where there's enough room to legally shoot but all the suburbanites have petitioned the county to make a no-shooting zone
2. Private forestry land where they'll stick you with a big fine or arrest if you trespass by walking five feet off the road
3. Municipal watersheds. Cedar River is a HUGE chunk of land that's completely closed to public access so Seattle can monopolize what kind of contaminants they leech into the water supply. Tacoma owns much of the Green River further south.
5. State Parks, State Forests, and no-shooting zones along the I-90 corridor because of all the people. The Mountains-to-Sound people have been instrumental in clearing out "illegal shooting" to make way for more faggy bike trails. Because the "Cabela's" crowd ought to be chased out in favor of attracting the "REI" crowd.

So yeah, there's a lot of forestry land, but also a LOT of population pressure. You really do have to drive like 30 miles down a dirt road in order to get out into the REAL boonies in King County.
