REEEEEEEEEE WHERE IS IT

it died
a lmg without the cartridge as heat sink will melt faster than a ice cube on the sun
Still working on it. They've got the 7.62 and 6.5 CT rounds sorted in terms of feeding and projected weight savings, now they're working on refining the 6.5 to get the best range out of it they can. If they push it into service too fast, we might end up with another shitter round like m195 55 grain, so its good they take their time.
>>34189260
>M193 is a shitty round
U wut?
It's AAI's and Textron Systems' first firearm. I'd rather they take their time to get it right than rush it out the door and create another AR-15 debacle.
Plus, it has to deal with American arms acquisition which moves slower than a morbidly obese /g/entooman.

>he doesn't know
anon, I hate to break it to you.
>>34189337
Within the context of military cartridges the M193 was better than M855/SS109 in every way. Of course modern bullets are better, but when it was introduced it was a perfectly good round.

>create another AR-15 debacle.
Have Fudds swap the powder after testing so that the pressure curve is all wrong, because they wanted to keep the M14, creating the "shits where eats" meme that refuses to die even though it's 100% falsehood?
>>34189260
USA hasn't had a shitty round since 30-40 krag
>>34189445
.308 wasn't bad, but it was outdated as a primary service round when it came out. We should have made something like the 7.62x39 or 7.92 Kurtz.
>>34189404
>Have Fudds swap the powder after testing so that the pressure curve is all wrong, because they wanted to keep the M14
They wanted to keep the M14, but that's not why they swapped the powder. Its because their inner jew saw all this surplus 7.62 powder lying around and saw that savings were to be had. There's no evidence to indicate the powder swap was malicious, but more due to cheapness, though I doubt they lost much sleep when issues arose.
>>34189472
>we should have had a rifle with an effective range of 300 meters.
>>34189722
As a primary service round, sure. Most combat falls well within 300 meters.
>>34189735
Why did the Russians switch from 7.62x39 to a faster round with more range, then?
>>34189921
Because the soviets were trying to be a superpower with the ability to project force globally. Smaller, lighter rounds are a logistical win.
>>34189921
if youre talking about 5.45 it falls out the the air like a wet noodle past 400 yards....maybe sooner. its like a 5.7 but more useful.
>kys.
>>34189997
and the 7.62x39 falls out of the air like a wet noodle at 250, what's your point?
>>34189445
nothing wrong with 30-40 krag, the rifle was great to but it wasnt rugged enough for military service and thr military thought they needed 1000m capabilities which the 30-40 krag does not deliver
>>34189365
>M855 being shitty
This meme needs to stop.

>>34189445
You realize 30-40 is dimensionally a midpoint between .308 and 30-06, it's even slightly larger than 7.62x54R
>>34189172
it'd be neat to have one on the civilian market.
>>34189172
Like every small arms project of the US that isn't thought of as stopgap solution like the M16, it is of course in development and planning until cancellation.
>>34189213
That's wrong anon, you must be thinking of caseless. Cased-telescoped guns are actually cooler than brass fed, because the plastic insulates instead of transmitting heat.
>>34192440
Maybe it's not terrible out of a 20" barrel, although the fleet yaw issue still exists, but it's definitely a bad choice for 14.5" & shorter barrels.
>>34195613
>insulates instead of transmitting heat
But the original post was talking about the actual gun being cooler.
Rotating chamber design is better. Just accept it burgers.
