look, I built something new
pic related

its an adapter for a flare gun to shoot seven .22s simultaneously with one trigger pull... actually I tried that a few weeks ago but the whole thing didnt work that well and a guy mentioned they use large pistol primers to enlarge the power on the firing pin plate, so I did that as well...

a few things before the thread really starts: I built that at work in a machine shop and used tool grade steel and not aluminium or silver painted wood or cardboard (people seem to believe shit like that)
my boss was like "boy, why dont you just use a shotgun-adapter, you could shoot buckshot or birshot or even slugs, its much easier and probably more effective as multiple .22s anyway..." and I was like "FUCK YOU"

this is the .50BMG rifle I posted a lot about many years ago...
summary for my newfriends:
I took the lower of a G3 and emptied it except for the trigger and sear and then I put in a bigger hammer and a wooden grip...

the upper, the bolt, the barrel, the handguard, the stock and all the other stuff I built completely myself from scratch
>>
>>34187879
Should put a vibration dampening gasket between receiver surface and handguard.

some kind of putty like loctite on the threads would keep it from backing out and hopefully dampen a little more vibration.

What's the logic behind requiring a rifle/pistol barrel to have rifling to prevent it from being an AOW? I don't see how that makes any real difference besides making your weapon worse at what it's supposed to do

Granted, but I'm still trying to process this. The only real reason I could think of would be to discourage scratch-built weapons since the average home tinkerer wouldn't be able to go the rifling in place all that well. But then, IIRC, building your own gun is legal as long as you don't serialize/sell it and it never leaves your possession (I could be wrong on that). Which makes me wonder if it's some archaic logic that doesn't apply in the modern day anyway.

Same here. Seems like a cheap and effective way to make your flare gun into a great survival tool (other than the obviousness of using flares) that has potential to be both a flare gun and also a good snake gun.

I'd rather spend $50 on a surplus flare gun and spend $150-200 on a 7-shot .22LR adapter and load it up with 7 rounds of .22 ratshot and keep some emergency flares than straight up spend $500 on a Taurus Judge. Fuck sneks.
>>
>>34190070
>$150-200
at that price point i would seriously consider using my leuchtpistole as an hd gun.
>>
>>34190070
The tolerances for this will make it way higher than 150/200 and would be like firing a target load through a 12 gauge adapter. this will absolutely wreck a flare gun in 100 shots or less.

Hmm. I suppose that technically, shotshell versions of most major cartridges are available. Thus, from the perspective of ATF's autistic hyperfocus on technical details over legislative intent, that would mean that most any firearm could qualify as a "shotgun", requiring rifling even it isn't chambered for a traditional shotshell.

Good (and depressing) point.
