The machine used in the incident was aKomatsuD355A bulldozer[9]fitted with makeshift armor plating covering the cabin,engineand parts of thetracks. In places this armor was over 1 foot (30cm) thick, consisting of 5000-psi Quikreteconcretemix sandwiched between sheets oftool steel(acquired from an automotive dealer in Denver), to make ad-hoccomposite armor. This made the machine impervious tosmall armsfire and resistant toexplosives: indeed three external explosions and more than 200 rounds ofammunitionfired at the bulldozer had no effect on it.[1]

For visibility the bulldozer was fitted with severalvideo cameraslinked to twomonitorsmounted on the vehicle's dashboard; the cameras were protected on the outside by 3-inch (76mm) shields of bullet-resistant plastic.[1]Onboard fans and an air conditioner were used to keep Heemeyer cool while driving, and compressed-air nozzles were fitted to blow dust away from the video cameras. He had made three gun-ports, fitted for a .50 caliber sniper rifle, a .308 semi-automatic, and a .22 long rifle, all fitted with a half-inch-thick (1.3 cm) steel plate. Heemeyer apparently had no intention of leaving the cabin once he entered it.[1]Authorities speculated he may have used a homemade crane – found in his garage – to lower the armor hull over the dozer and himself. "Once he tipped that lid shut, he knew he wasn't getting out", Daly said. Investigators searched the garage where they believe Heemeyer built the vehicle and found cement and armor steel.[1]

Only Heemeyer was killed in the event (by a self-inflicted gun shot) but afterwards the modified bulldozer came to be known as "Killdozer".

The city council ordained to approve the construction of a concrete factory in the lot across from Marvin's shop. In the process this blocked the only access road to the muffler shop. Marvin petitioned to stop the construction to no avail. Petitioned to construct a new access road, and even bought the heavy machinery to do so himself. Denied. The concrete factory went up in disregard to the ramifications on Marvin's business. To add insult to injury, the factory construction disconnected the muffler shop from the city sewage lines. An indifferent city government then chose to fine Marvin for this. His business and livelihood were in ruin.

I frequently fantasize about buying a cheap shit vehicle off of Craigslist and building it into a technical/ APC. It would be a really fun project. Install steel plates, armor the undercarriage, strip the interior, cut a gunner hatch in the roof, cut firing ports in the sides, etc. Unfortunately, there's not really anywhere I could take it out and fuck around (I live on a densely populated island) so it would be kind of pointless

dude lost his fucking mind after the city screwed him over. He lost his entire lifes work and just stopped giving a fuck about anything.

He was almost caught while building the killdozer. Some guests showed up to his garage and were looking right at it and he thought he was toast - apparently no one thought that his bulldozer being covered in slabs of reinforced concrete was weird and out of the ordinary so no one said anything.

He was probably so far gone by that point that he began to think the only reason he wasnt ratted out was because god was personally watching over him. He probably wasnt all a bad dude to be honest, until he got BTFO by the city with zero recourse. Cant really blame him for snapping, he had nothing to lose and zero course for justice.
