What does /k/ think of the xm42?
>buy xm42
>intruder breaks in
>reach for 870
>decide to solve the problem the right way
>grab XM42 instead
>Can't burglarize a house that doesn't exist

who doesnt want a flamethrower?
>>34181745
I have one, pretty fun.
Wonder why they changed the design.
A couple years back a gas station near me got robbed with a can of lynx and a lighter. Nobody fucks with flames.
>>34181893
What are they doing different?
>tfw maryland and California are the only states in the union to ban flamethrowers
Once again, Maryland being the no fun allowed state.

Oh yea?
>>34181948
Mine is a gen 3 according to the website, but look under the shroud. I don't have a huge solenoid sticking out
>>34181745
Never seen one of these. I am now highly interested, however.
Isn't the massive tank on top unwieldy? Why wouldn't they just make it a backpack?

Is it worth the 1.2k USD it costs? I know it's a product that's priced the way it is because of development, marketing, and a need for profit, but the materials and construction make it look like something that would be cost a consumer 500 dollars TOPS. I guess the price comes from supply and demand, based on the notion of there being no other significant consumer flamethrower companies.
I mean, even if I wanted to build or buy one, I live in fucking Commiefornia, which is one of the TWO states that restricts flamethrowers. I'm just wondering what you think of them.

theres a handle in the back and on the side to stabilize it. Plus its only a small tank of gasoline so its not terribly heavy
>>34183112
OP here,
Damn the price went up then. A month or so ago they were around 8-850.
I guess you could probably build one of your own for less than that but its probably a lot safer having something you know won't blow up in your hand on the test run or later.

Yeah, I'm not the keenest on building my own pressurized flammable liquid spraying device. It's just seeing such crude looking construction that reminds me of cobray shotguns, at such a high price, that makes me think about DIYing something like that.
Also, the original price was actually 700 USD, according to this article (and another on dailymail).

I actually found them on here for $899.99
https://www.preppergunshop.com/flamethrowers
On Ion productions official website the state a good amount of reasons besides burning faggots alive to have one but still doesn't seem to justify the price tag. I can start a bon fire with gas and matches just fine just not as luxuriously
>>34183112
You Californians don't deserve guns. At least you have shitty drugs and high taxes.
>>34181745
>$1,200 for fire squirt gun
>$400 more for back-mounted flame thrower with twice the range
>>34186020
Less than $500 to actually build your own.
Too low of capacity, short of range, amd low of pressure.
>>34186020
Fun fact the people that these guys stole the design from used to charge only $600.
Can I use to to clean snow?
>>34186020
I like this but this seems even more crude than xm42's design
Also like that the xm42 can be easily thrown in case of malfunction where as this you'd need to be hurry to take it off.
>>34186720
That was actually one of its uses stated on Ion productions website.
Would this work with gasoline-resistant materials ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XGq3SZEDZI
