There's a reason they call it the Poverty-Tier Rifle. G3s are probably cheapest to run out of all the battle rifles because everything is cheap to replace or fix, they love eating the shittiest steel-case ammo, and nothing important on them is easy to break.

Depends.

Reliability and lightweight would go to the SCAR

Lightweight comes at a price though. Thin barrels are nice for carrying and it will certainly handle the 650 rate of fire. But quick heating and cooling means a little less consistency in the transition.

However, for something like the SR-25/Mk110 they say you should rarely, if-ever, come close to firing more than 4 rounds per minute and to clean and let the rifle cool completely after a full 20 round magazine if you want to perserve accuracy.

Might as well have a musket at that point.

Barrel length doesn't effect accuracy the way most people in this thread seem to think it does. In fact, it seems most people talking about accuracy in this thread learned what they know from video game stats. A longer barrel doesn't necessarily mean it should be more accurate. It's actually easier to have a more accurate barrel if it's shorter. Barrel length effects velocity which has a huge effect on accuracy down range, however. 14.5 inch barrel for a rifle cartridge is just fucking stupid. And for a "precision" rifle no less.

tl;dr you can have a precise weapon with adequate range or you can have a small, light, compact weapon with compromises in every other catagory.
