I wonder if the GSG MP40's are actually reliable mechanically. Their big as disclaimer saying, "We tested it with X and X ammo but we can't make the gun work with every grain of ammo" is the only reason I didn't get it.

Honestly your best bet is probably the Evo 3. Reliable, great market for modifying and looks cool to boot. Been looking at getting a sub gun under $1k myself but they're just so fucking expensive if you want anything more than .22lr. I've been looking at Walther's MP5A5. Wish I could get a 9mm, but the price jump would be one or two thousand.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not really looking at getting any of these for any practical reason, just want a fun plinker.
I might wait on the MP40 and see what people think of it in the long-term and after the stock is released, plus the price might go down like it did with the .22LR MP40 and STG-44 since those went from being $600 to $300-$400.
A Suomi, Sten, or Mini Uzi is also a great Idea. I have actually been looking at a Vector Mini Uzi to see if that would be a decent substitute for an IMI since that seems to be the only other option but IMI's are a little out of my price range.

No. It's a TNW. Thought about trying a build but it's easier to get one that works.

Stick mag is unreliable. Drum has zero issues. Trigger pull is about 10lbs, which is what the gun weighs.
