Cardboard is great, it's light, surprisingly dense, and it doesn't ignite as easy as you'd think. The only real downside is that it's so bulky.
>>
>>34175344
Paper armor actually works really well because it compresses, like ice.
>>
>>34175424
If you think about it, it's basically just aerated wood.

A wood soufflé, if you will.
>>
>>34175427
Fun fact, the Greeks made armor for their Hoplites out of hardened paper.
>>
>>34175438
Samurai armor is compressed paper sheets as well I believe
>>

IIRC it's bundled treated straw glued and woven together, so basically paper made out of straw, yeah.

Ceremonial armor used lacquered wood though.

Take pic related, both got hit by the same RPG but was immobilized by a captured M67 recoilless rifle. 4 dudes got fried inside the V-150 and injured more than a dozen from the other side, their fried bodies were left behind while their buddies bailed out.

The fried bodies and the two APCs were retrieved a couple of days later.

The RPG impacted and detonated, sending it's copper EFP straight through the front of the turret. The molten copper did not impact any munitions/fuel so there was no catastrophic kill. The RPG functioned as designed, the turret was penetrated, the cardboard shows only secondary outward spalling.

When an RPG hits an armored vehicle, it doesn't blow up like in the video games unless it detonates secondaries within. Keep basing your opinions on video games though, kiddies

If I remember correctly, the tip of the RPG in pressure sensitive and contains a shaped charge that directly molten metal into the target, right? So if it impacts the cardboard and triggers the charges then the hull of the tank is only treated to the projectile, and not the breaching charge, right? I haven't done any research into turbanhead projectile weapons so I'm not sure.
>>
>>34184571
The cardboard is full of air, it works like Chobham armor where there are holes full of air in the armor, it slows down the projectile.

A couple of months before the previous admin ended the Army and Muhreens were scheduled to purchase Maxxpros and Caimans from excess stocks in Iraq. Most of these were used sparingly if not brand new and were supposed to be used solely by the Iraqi military and their American """advisors""".

When the new China-loving dictator started blasting King Obongo the rest was history and other cunts bought these MRAPs for cheap. If the despot just taped his mouth shut and kept his anti-USA tirade to himself our military would have a hundred of these by now.

Yes, both are explosively formed, if you want to be pedantic, but only Miz-Schar weapons class as EFP's. The actual effects produced in the two phenomena appear the same but are quite different.

Fuck, I honestly thought you people were smarter then that.
An dog works by using a shaped charged to punch through armor. A shaped charge is highly dependant on stand off distance. That's why an rpg has a cone and tube like structure on it. The impact sensitive fuse is also the measurement of optimal standoff distance.
So if you can out something several inches to a foot away from the actual armor you can disrupt the charge.
That's how slat and bar armor works.
He'll even plywood would work so I imagine enough cardboard would to.
Don't get the image tho.
