I'm considering asking for this saber for my Birthday next month... is this a good starting point? Or should I consider the Cold steel version

Ive never heard if this brand and I'm not sure I'd trust it at that price point.

Not break on the first swing?
If you want it as a display piece it doesn't matter if you want a sword that can be used for cutting without blade separating from hilt you're usually going to have to pay more than 40 bucks

get one of each and dual wield them
I purchased my own NCO sword before I got out of the Maroons. It's by WKC so the hilt and blade are well designed but not sharp. I thought of purchasing the cold steel version because it can cut fruits and water jugs, but I suppose there's a reason why ceremonial swords are dulled.
For me at least, swords are best left as display items. People already lose their shit the moment they see a dent on their blades, so why even bother? If you're even considering Columbining except with only a sword, get a gladius. It's probably the most no-nonsense blade I can think of.

I was considering getting the Cold Steel Naval officer's sword but settled on WKC for the same reason. Also the little details on WKC's stuff is top notch for display swords.

Don't buy Deepeeka. They're utter trash. Cold steel is not great either, but it's better than Deepeeka and they're the only legitimate producers who make modern replicas of 19th century swords.
