So Japan just finished it's first F-35. What does this mean for the Shin-din? Is that program shot down before it can even get into the air (no pun intended)? What will the Japs replace their F-2s and F-15s with? The F-35 I guess.

Nah, the Japs would just use F-35 as a lesson to develop Shinshin further.
Is it really worth building a production facility for 42 jets? Even with it being used for major maintenance down the road that has to be a significant added cost.
