P229s are nice but I prefer the aesthetics of the old w.german p228s. There are some good ones on gunbroker that are a pretty good value.
They can be used for CC no problem, but I'd consider a kydex holster since they're pretty t h i c c.

You'd still have plenty of cash to get a nice rifle, some mags and a couple hundred rounds of 9mm

Sigs are mechanically great guns, but are not what I would call ergonomic. I would say try a CZ, if you're looking at a 9mm. The advantage with the P229 is that you can caliber swap between 9mm, .40, and .357 Sig easily. Still, it depends on what you like. There are many excellent pistols and revolvers out there. Perhaps some rentals would give you perspective?

Having turned 28 last year, I found myself thankful people weren't making a huge deal about it and expecting me to do shit. Took my day off of work and went shooting, had the range to myself, relaxed for the first time in months.

Rent every pistol that makes your dick hard.
Consider ergonomics, concealability, reliability, aftermarket, etc.

Warm up, shoot each pistol and compare the targets. Write down the pros and cons of each pistol on the target. If you sleep on the decision for a couple of days after dicking around at the range, this should help refresh your memory.

With the shekels you've got, I would buy a USPc /P30s 9mm AND an M9 (I'm partial to spaghetti shooters, sue me). Go ahead and buy the compact version so that you are ready to go when you get your CC. With the money left over you should be able to get a nice holster and maybe a decent laser/light.
