If you are a government agency and you're buying them in large bulk as part of a contract.

Otherwise it wouldn't really be financially viable to sell them commercially at those prices.
>>
>>34169260
Just need to talk with people, networking and such. Start with the guys in the range shower next time you go.
>>
>>34169322
they only need to sell one of them at that price to me tho
>>
How much do you think Sig makes per gun at that price?
>>
>>34169376
They're not going to sell you one at that price because you're just one customer buying one gun.
>>
>>34169356
>range shower

wtf kinda range has a shower?
>>
>>34169445
what if i buy like 3 of them
>>
>>34169475
You're gonna be looking to buy at least a few hundred of them, maybe a thousand, for them to do a price deal like that with you, and that's not just a straight sale, there's more to it.
>>
>>34169260
Sig is selling those fuckers at borderline cost
The plan is probably to do what glock did with LEOs. Sell cheap to the pros and dominate the civilian market.
>>
>>34169260
Steal one from the military when they enter service.
>>
>>34169467
Wait yours dont?
>>
>>34169498
glocks only cost around $75-100 to produce. i doubt these cost that much more
>>
>>34169467
Plenty of them. The better ones even serve crab legs
>>
>>34169553
that's bullshit but i believe it
>>
>>34169553

And give complementary penis checks
>>
got mine new for $450 last month
>>
>>34169498
This is the best marketing plan. Civilians don't want to be catered to, they want what the military/ police have - for the most part. This is why 90s Sig Sauer (along with better QC), was much more respected than it was a couple years ago. It looks like they're trying to go back in that direction.
>>
>>34169393
Probably $200, idk, how much does a pound of zinc and some plastic cost?
>>
>>34169260

Ask a gangster who owns one. after they use it to do crimes they usually don't mind selling it for cheap since it is evidence of the crime.

If you get caught by cops with the gun they will pin the crimes on you though. At least in the liberal shit hole that I live in.
>>
>>34169828
Its not the military version is it ?

>What are bulk govt. purchases?
I bet you think SCARs and HK416s cost more than $1500 :^)
>>
>>34170084
no
>>
>>34169498
Alright kids, here is how it works:

They sell products at cost with a small fixed profit on top. The money rolls in on spare parts and funded engineering and product support for 30-50 years. That plastic crap will get scratched and banged up in the field so the army will be buying a fuck ton of the grips. The barrels are probably piss poor metal to get the cost down so expect those to be replaced frequently as well.
>>
>>34169260
They sold the US military a pistol without a threaded barrel coming standard?
>>
>>34169953
>implying the cost of producing a good is only the raw materials
nigger
>>
>>34169953
>zinc
They're not Hi-Point

>>34170313
This, it's like faggots complaining "buh why this plastic animu figurine is like $120 when is like a dollars of plastic!??" showing they understand fucking nothing about manufacture, startup costs, distribution or overhead.

Almost nothing is ever priced at it's literal material cost unless you're literally buying the material itself directly from a producer (as in, large scale bulk purchases).

>>34169737
>his penis inspections arent mandatory

>>34169260
Totally on amazon bro, all day. Its gonna be airsoft though. Also if you stop being a faggot and join the military you'd get a free one.

>>
I seen movies where are all those military shady arms dealers at
>>
>>34170313
With modern CNC machining the cost in volume is fucking modest. Much more than materials which are trivial in bulk, but there's nothing exotic about producing firearms. Designing non-shit weapons and maintaining proper QC takes determination though.
>>
>>34170865
i was under the impression that the military was full of faggots?
>>
>>34169737
Haven't been lately because of the no single policy.
>>
>>34171157
Most of the international arms dealing nowadays is basically intel-agency controlled. This isn't Lord of War- even the guy Yuri was based off of (Viktor Bout) is serving a 25-year sentence or something for weapons dealing. It caught up to him eventually.

The closest to an arms dealer you could find easily would be going to a Bazaar in some african/afghanistan hell-zone, or the Pakistan Tribal regions.

>>34169376
Sneak into an army base and use the five finger discount.

>what is research and development

>what is cost of machining and processing
>what is chemical treatments (finishes and colors)
>what is assembly and testing
>what is shipping and handling
>what is marketing and competing
>what is packaging

There's a metric shit ton of steps between some length of barstock with a scoop of plastic and a finished pistol put on the market, you fucking mouth breather, again, NO PRODUCT IS EVER VALUED AT IT'S LITERAL MATERIAL COST, there is always processing to be made, there is money spent on turning those materials into a gun, and there is money spent on paying people to do it and expensive machinery for them to use (in particular injection molds).

You sound like a 14 year old communist on tumblr who's perplexed and angered about some basic market or manufacturing because he doesn't understand economy.

Basic crawfish or gourmet crawfish?
Either way, i can understand
>>
>>34175262
>>34175242
>>34175217
I never said it was innovative (I don't even like Sig), merely that it's not trivial.

Basing a gun on a pre-existing gun does make things easier but you're hardly done by just saying "put a striker in it", you need to change a bunch of steps in machining, and possibly make an all new injection mold, if you're changing the plastic parts, injection molds are insanely expensive pieces of equipment, among the most expensive, depending on what you're manufacturing.
On top of that, you need to make sure that your design works, or you get abortions like the Colt Double Eagle or Remington R51, guns which clearly was never seriously tested, and was designed by the thought of "Yeah, that thing worked, right? Why don't we do that, but do it like this?"
>>
>>34175262
Not same anon, but they have to reach that conclusion first.

>looks at art
>"i could do that"
>yeah but you didnt
>>
>>34170249
>replace the barrels
Not like the guns will be used much
