Thoughts on this rifle?

Good deer gun. I want to get a Henry All-Weather in 30-30

30-30 is a good round, but don't get something in it if your not hunting in bush. They are absolute trash past 100m.

.30-30 is ballistically inferior to .308. The performance is roughly comparable to 7.62x39, but you have an absolutely enormous case in order to get that performance, and a recoil similar to .308 for a fraction of the momentum. This is in part due to the lack of aerodynamics, and in part due to the fact that the cartridge is older than your mom's mom's mom.

It's not ideal. But it's about the peak of levergun performance, short of maybe .44 magnum or .45-70.

That being said, if you like it, get it. I have a 30-30 and I love it.

I would compare it to a pointed round. It's a different use, knocking through brush and dumping a whole lotta energy inside a durr/pig all within 100m without over penetrating. Different use.

The Savage model 99 disagrees

its balistically equivilant to 7.62x39 and an okay round. only issue is the price which is .60-1.00 or more. if you are hunting one box of expensive ammo is fine. if you want to plink its not that great of a choice.
used lever action 30-30s are readily available at cheap prices.

Whats a good entry lever gun? Preferably in some kickass caliber with sexy western aesthetic

No clue, but the .357 will save you difference in ammunition costs pretty quickly over 30-30 or .44 magnum.

I have a 94 saddle ring carbine and a model 55 both in .32WS which is slightly more powerful than .30-30, I have slain many deer with them.

IMO, 1892's and 1894's are the handiest rifles on Earth. /k/ has a big focus on military/tactical weapons so they tend to be overlooked here.

Bigger than a .223. Fires a projectile of equivalent diameter and weight to that of a .308, however, at a slower speed and the bullet is typically less aerodynamic. It's find for shooting deer/pigs at short range.

Tell that to the deer i shot at 180 meters last year, or the one 3 years before that and a lasered 193 (to be fair i usually shoot them at about 30)
My Winchester model 94 with a fixed 4x scope would should a 2.25" group at 100m.
You can push a 100gr varmint bullet at just under 2900fps if you reload.
This kills the coyote.
It isnt uncommon in some circles to reload a 195gr cast bullet at 1900fps for 500 yard target shooting.
Over 100 its trash my ass, i shoot an 8" gong at 150 using a 44mag leveraction, loaded with a 240gr 44special at 950fps. Learn to shoot.

Have to include thats a 2.25" group from unsupported prone, using 170gr federals. That doesnt sound amazing but the vital area on a deer is 8" across, its a 225m deer gun for fuck sake.
I am not saying it is on par with 308, but saying 3030 is a 100yard deer gun is as intelligent as saying 5.56 was designed to wound.
At shorter ranges it even beats the fuck out of 7.62x39 in energy (although it is slightly slower)

What is the Browning BLR?
What is the Henry Long Ranger (the most accurate lever-action rifle ever made)?

A lot fucking happened since the Winchester 94, there's nothing inherently really bad about it, but it's not been top of the line in over a century.
