Bought a type 99 yesterday, and when I handle it, this orange dye soaks into my hands. I don't think it's cosmo obviously, but what the fuck could it be?
This is my 7th milsurp rifle and I've never had this happen before.

Japanese use lacquer on their wood instead of basic oil stain. It could be lacquer coming off from a previous owner using lacquer thinner or aircraft remover or something else along those lines to remove cosmoline.
