Just inherited pic related from my old man. A double barrel and a 22 rifle that he got from his dad, so they're pretty old. I'm a gun novice, but I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me more about them

The bottom looks like a .22 cricket to me, the back "knob" is a plunger you have to pull to cock. Then pull the boom switch and pew-pew, you have a .22LR hurling out of it.
>>
>>34163208
Look them over for writing and tell us what it says.
>>
Are there any markings on them? If so, post a picture. It's hard to distinguish one shotgun from the next without details.

That's printed on the barrel of the 22.

I don't know what that .22 is called, but it's the exact same thing we shot in my hunter's ed course back in the mid 90s. They were ancient and beat to shit but perfectly functional.

And the only writing I could find on the double barrel is really faded, but I think it says 'smokeless powder steel on top' and 'ithaca hammerless' on the side

Winchester Model 68, meaning it's at least 72 years old: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Model_68

Awesome man, thanks

The shotgun appears to be an Ithaca Lewis. See if you can find a serial number. It might be here.
>>
>>34163378
The bottom part says s15 or 16. It's hard to tell because it's so faded, but I think it's a 15. The top number is 132330
>>
>>34163422
With the serial number, you can figure out exactly how old your shotgun is. The Lewis went into production in 1901, so it's not any older than that.
>>
>>34163422

Should be a 1906 by that serial. It's probably not worth a ton, but the age alone makes it a bit of an heirloom.
>>
Thanks guys, that clears up quite a bit
>>
>>34163509
probably shouldnt shoot the shotgun with modern loads.

My grandfather had one of these. It's a fun gun.

Clean it up and take it shooting!
