/k/ommandos, the F-35 makes me sad.
the fact that we are soliciting the industry for 7.62x51mm service rifles makes me feel like I am taking crazy pills.
Post aircraft, weapons, tanks, whatever that should have happened.

CVA-01 proposed aircraft carrier, cancelled in 1966.
Apparently not a particularly amazing design (iirc for similar tonnage and lower cost, one of the US's lighter carriers in service at the time would give you a far better air-fleet.) but I think it's cute.
Instead Britain got harrier-carriers (sorry, "Through-Deck cruisers.") and moved their F-4Ks to land-bases.
Russian navy ship that will never be built.

The design became a shitshow before it was cancelled because compromises were continually forced on it. The project director cried for joy when it was canned.
Should still be around today. Should've never tried to hack it as a fighter, should've been strictly a bomber killer with a secondary mission to intercept

Yeah, no. Opinion discarded
>>34155450
You haven't a clue. Zippers are nice to look at so go look at one, but they were obsolete in the 1980s and that was a long time ago. I got to see several German F-104 mock attack Sembach AB where I worked OV-10s and it was a fine show, but they were obsolete even in the 1980s.

The current F-15 is way sexier, my opinion is better than yours.
Ok it's main gun was wrong and designing a vehicule using 2 systems of measurements in 2 countries would have led to big expensive mistakes.
But just look at it.

The USN could have had a carrier-based medium range stealth attack platform in service by the late 1990's. As it stands, the USN still can't into stealth.
Surprised nobody's posted this yet.
