They're climbing claws, ninja used them to, wait for it, climb. Usually there is a second set that goes on your feet too. Good in a pinch if you know some sort of open palmed hand to hand techniques and supposedly ninja could use them to catch sword swings. Make sure yours aren't some BudK tier, dime a dozen piece of shit before using.

Yep saw a Video of it once on Yt, can't remember if it was a Documentary on Ninjas from the 80s or 90s or some shit, but allegedly they were used to climb up Fortress Walls and Trees and a Weapon of Last resort, up to that point where the enemys were frightened since it seemed like the "ninjas" could kill with their bare hands.

They weren't rammed in like pitons, though; they would have been jammed into cracks and joints the way a rock climber finds handholds as they ascend.

An extremely situational tool, and one that might be of marginal benefit on many buildings--but, it's better than having only your fingers.
