Very painful home defense might send a Tyrone running, but won't stop you from getting sued

As fucked up as it is, it's the world we live in today, where "victims" who are injured during break ins can sue, depending on your state and judge

Dead men tell no tales. 12 gauge No 4 buckshot or larger

Well that's a choice you have to make. Want to own a firearm to defend yourself/loved ones? Get good or don't own a gun. At the very least consider what's behind every door frame in your house. I've seen and read so many things on which calibers do or don't penetrate walls and it varies so wildly on what a house is made of. There's endless variables between the angle of where you are when you shoot, where the intruder is in the house, you'd be better to plan on dropping an intruder than penetrating walls, especially since projectiles can change their path wildly through the wall depending on whether or not there's a beam, or wiring, or a/c drain, or any other random thing regarding house building that you can't plan for

When did /k/ become such a meme board? I can't believe all these noguns faggots that think #8 birdshot won't penetrate. A #8 load with a modified choke can ABSOLUTELY be lethal at realistic home defense distances (read: usually within 10'). I'm not saying to use #8, I use #4 for home defense, but to say something like #8 would be completely useless in this situation is fucking retarded.

Is it normal for a Mossy 500 to get these marks in the receiver?

I'm pretty sure they're caused by the locking lug on the bolt hitting the receiver there when I go to chamber a round from a position where the bolt wasn't all the way back. I store the gun with the action half open so I can see the shell in there but not have it chambered.

Look, its 2am. You hear a rattling at your front door. It goes quiet, so you and your best bro go back to sleep.

Two minutes later the back door, and it goes quiet, you are both on alert now. Then CRASH, your window is smashed out. Thankfully you were both ready for this moment. Having already been sleeping in your tactical dandie suit you slap on your straw fair hat and grab the punt gun from under your California king.

Your best friend and live in life partner grabs the mid section of the self defense fire arm, and you both proceed to ambulate around the house in tactical fashion clearing rooms. Eventually, posting up and knocking down several pictures with the end of the barrel and light fixtures you see him in the dark. The invader. He is aware of your presence, but doesn't know what to make as your friend rounds the corner with a piece of plumbing pipe on his shoulder. He barely registers the nice cut of his clothes as you get the verbal command to fire from around the corner.

BOOM. You always planned to install a bay window in this room anyway, and now most of the work is done. Your neighbors also wanted a bay window. The would be criminal now exists as a memory, fine spray of red mist, and pair of slightly stolen air jordens.

After you pump it and it locks, you can pull back on the pump and see the bolt rock back slightly and put pressure where the marks are.

Man some anon recommend paul harrel's(or whatever the fuck his name is)video about why shotguns don't suck for HD and i gotta say i was disappointed.

Dude bitches and moans about how there's multiple kinds of buckshot for like 5 minutes because somebody somewhere said that shotguns with 00 penetrate through common building materials too much and that 5.56 caliber rifles will tend to penetrate less.

Then the motherfucker has the gall to use only one variety of unnamed 5.56 ammo for his comparison to a shotgun with #4buck(doesnt reliably meet FBI standards) and "tests" it against some soda bottles afterwards to show how lethal it is...

Add on to my old post. Not a reproduction apparently. After doing some research, turns out the gun is a genuine Winchester made in 1931. I wish the fuck-knuckle I bought it from didn't saw the barrel down. Now I have to find a pro gunsmith to smooth over the damage.
>>
>>34158278
Pretty intuitive way to change the choke. If you ever buy a shotgun with one of these just be ready to spend a bit more than usual on chokes if your looking on switching them out.
>>
>>34158848
>>34158278

Also be aware you can't remove the compensator easily. They are normally silver brazed on by the factory so you'd have to cut down the barrel and deal with all that shit.

>no castle laws
Okay, my plan is to have a rubber slug in the chamber and buckshot for all remaining shoots

>if I see them approaching through my garden (sleep on second floor) I shoot the first rubber shot to hurt/scare
>if they end up shooting back or if they are already kicking my doors or similar I cycle for buck straight away
What do you think about my master plan?
>>
>>34161667
No idea about the out of state stuff, I'd imagine if your mailing address was in california it wouldn't be an issue, but I'm just guessing. I'm sure you could find some farmer with a pork problem that wouldn't mind you removing some. I've seen videos of people in Texas hunting swine in a helicopter with full fun AR setups.

You made a good post, but it wasn't rated as highly as it should have been. One could say it's rating was under what should have been expected.

That's why you show up with an old mossy 500 with some rattle can camo and outshoot them.
Shuts em right up.

Superior race home defense shotgun. An 870 clone bought from Walmart for 180 bucks ,
3 inch chamber, may tube carries 6 2-3/4 , and it just works.

Thanks for making me feel validated about my most recent purchase. FIME May rebate ftw.

Are the CSSpecs mags the best ones available for it? I've got a couple of them and they look pretty mean on the gun, but I also love the slav plastic a e s t h e t i c s of the stock Vepr mags and want some 8-rounders. Are they work the dinero?
>>
>>34151917
I alternate #4 and 00 magnum loads in my Vepr's HD mags.

I figure that if I'm double-tapping Tyrone (pumpfags eternally BTFO), I have the wider spread of #4 to ensure a stun hit and the 00 to make the killshot.
>>
>>34152036
Do you use chokes or is the babby-killing straight bore accurate enough for the clays?
>>
You can currently get a Winchester SXP for ~$150. Are these decent shotguns that function/hold up alright? What cons do they have (assuming lack of aftermarket is probably one)?

Are they just a rebranded turkish shotgun ala the HS2000 becoming Springfield XD or are they a Winchester design that is manufactured in Turkey?

>Clays with a vepr I'm sure is fine.
I use my vepr12 for clays all the time, works absolutely fine. Lots of 23/25 rounds in both clay and skeet.

What O/U shotgun would yall recommend for quail/pheasant/grouse hunting? I was thinking along the lines of a Ruger Red Label, but I'm not sure how they compare to other shotguns on the market.

Is there a nickel plated shotgun out there that actually has or accommodates a barrel long enough for sport? They all seem to be 18" or 20"
>>
>>34166582
What price range?

Sub 1500, look for a used browning field gun, or go with a turkish.

Red labels are kind of all over the place. And the two piece welded reciver of the old ones sometime crack.

Older 12gage red lables ive seen have a lot of barrel to reciver gap.

And in the end they are very heavy for a bird gun.

My personal coice would be a 828U
Or a silver pigeon.

They review a ton of shotguns
>>
>>34166214
They are turkish built and imported by winchester.

The aftermarket is smaller than mossberg 500/590 or remingtom 870.

That said they are a fine pump gun. Personally i dont like the slide release or the safety.
>>
>>34166582
They were great when they were in production, Ruger stopped making them two years ago.

Best bet for the money are the CZ o/u shotguns. They are produced in Turkey by Huglu but the steel in CZ steel and the plant is supervised by CZ.

Best bang for the buck hands down.
>>
>>34154008
Just don't get the junior/short model, you will have feed problems with longer shells
>>
>>34150923
I've own both the Utas and Kaltech and the Izhmash Saiga and can say with 100% confidence that the Vepr is the most trustworthy a far as lack of failures plus it shoots low brass out of the bos if you have concerns about travel distance.
>>
>>34151039
#7 at less than 25 feet is almost always fetal and is guaranteed to incapacitate the target.

>>

At HD distances the wounds produced by birdshot would be much, much more severe. You also presumably have an entire magazine of shells. Shoot em again if required. And, a goose load is not the same animal as some bargain clay round. People act like there's 00 and #9 and nothing in between.

Additionally, the "ATTACKERS ON PCP" meme needs to die, if someone is actually so fucked up that they can neither feel pain nor register the shock of being shot, the only things that will kill them immediately is by destroying the CNS. This can be accomplished with an unimpressive load.

Let's put it this way, birdshot is far from the best, but if you were to defend your home with it and you failed/died, I really doubt that it would be your limiting factor.

Answer to all questions is this thing I own right here:

Remington Auto-Loading Shotgun

Yeah don't be too jealous it's only a 112 year old shotgun that can still fuck someone's day up.

Serial number range in the 4000's. Sleek ergonomic design for quick sight picture. The gun is super long and some would say not good for tight quarters. I say that if you can't adjust your gun to fit in a tight space you're stupid. If your gun can't fit into your vehicle comfortably get a bigger vehicle. If you run out of shells you can beat someone to death with this thing all the while screaming "FOR MR. BROWNING'S IMMORTAL SOUL!"

It's fun to shoot because the spirit of JMB personally reduces the recoil of each shot and also you can fucking adjust the friction rings for the type of load you are using.

Just don't ever fucking use the safety. Don't. You'll have a bad fucking time if you aren't perfectly careful.
>>
I'm thinking about getting one of these before my state finds a way to ban them. Is it just a meme or are they reasonably good shotguns? It looks like a fun range gun, but I don't know anyone who has personally used one.
>>
>>34151039
If you think for a second that that kind of damage wouldn't stop most people, you're insane. Imagine three shots of that back to back, especially to the face... #6 is one of my favorite loads.
>>
>>34150907
Anyone know we're I could get a different take down screw for a Mossberg 500 at? stock one looks like shit.
>>
>>34175201
Do you have any grasp of the realities of gunfight injuries?

People often have no idea they've been shot, even when the wound is serious.

Pain goes out the window in life or death situations
