Yes, but I wouldn't refinish it. The gritty, runny Maadi paint has a lot of character. New Polish wood would look weird on it, though. Generally Maadis look best with Maadi furniture (dark wood gas tube half, lighter wood bottom handguard and stock).

It's basically a bog standard AKM at the end of the day and can be dressed accordingly, but a Steyr/PARS/Intrac pre-ban should be kept pretty stock, IMO. If you want an AK to play dressup with, there's always WASRs.

I'll try and post the two other serials tomorrow.. after I closed the latch I couldn't get it back open with my bare hands, I'll need to put it in a soft vise to give me more control.. the spring is tight and the hinge is stiff as hell. It was hard for me to just get it closed with my bare hands, getting it open was impossible without tearing my skin on those jagged edges of the rivets. I'm on one, it's just not happening tonight, these are old pics and I'm already naked

Here's one of the latch mechanism, never really knew how it worked until I saw it in person, it's pretty clever. The old RPKS version you had to use a bullet tip to release the latch, using the hole in the receiver on the right side. This was because folding the stock was really a one time thing and once it's deployed it shouldn't be folded back for a while.. but. Now it has a "double action" mechanism where you don't require a bullet tip, although the hole on the right side still persists, I guess as a plan B

Pretty good to be h except for the last 36 hours, had to babysit my little cousin whom I love, but he's diagnosed aspergers and video game addicted. The farthest I would go would be a plum folder. Wood folders are actually readily available and actually having a wood set for dress up wouldn't be half bad. there is a button to unfold the stock, but to fold it, you have to use a bullet tip on that hole

it's because folding isn't something that should actually happen often

on the updated version the latch on the left side can also release the stock which is much more intuitive, but that wasn't always the case
