I don't know if I want this future tho

How much you put into the mod 1? I just got the rail and dropped it on my 6.5 till I can find an SPR barrel on the cheap to build it on. Expecting to spend like 7-800 so probably not gonna be a while
>>
>>34138760

Wasr is still better tho
>>
>>34138800
>I don't know if I want this future tho
I wasn't really attached to it, so it's understandable

>How much you put into the mod 1?
I think I spent $3k on everything, but that includes my Nightforce too. I don't have exact numbers because I did it the better part of 3 years ago.
I do recall the rail and front sight being obnoxiously hard to find at the time, so I probably spent a little too much on those two parts just for instant gratification and accuracy to the build.

>>
>>34138835
desu the only reason I'd sell mine is if it got replaced with an AKS-74(N) kit so I could continue Ukie shenanigans

I picked up my FF RAS off Brownells for 320 shipped so I came out on that alright, the barrel, brake, and gas block are gonna be a bitch really, probably gonna be at least 4-500 there. Gonna be forever till I get an A1 lower tho
>>
>>34138857
>probably gonna be at least 4-500 there.
I think my barrel was $400, another $200 on the muzzle, and $60 on the gas block.

If you aren't going for a ridiculous match barrel, then $500 is probably doable.
>>
>>34138832
>Ignore the memes the c39 is an ok ak
Yeah, no.
Just because you're retarded doesn't mean that broken bolt carriers and walking headspace are "memes".
They're garbage and should be avoided like the plague.
>>
>>34138876
Yea I'm just gonna pick up a BA SPR, I don't ever shoot for groups so I don't really need a 4-500 barrel. Gas block is still 60 but I've seen the brakes for 100-150 on EE so I'm gonna grab one there. Same with a colt upper and BCG probably

I'm probably gonna hold off on the optic too and just leave it with KAC irons for a while, maybe drop whatever variable I buy for something else on it every now and then till I want to spend 800-1k on the Leupold and another 500 on an offset T1

Depending on what I'm doing either an HK P30L or Browning Hi Power. I shoot the P30L more serious while the Hi Power is my do everything pistol that I don't care if it gets beat up and abused or whatever. I CC the Hi Power OWB when the weather allows (in WA so often) so it's definitely the one I shoot the most, but I'm a sucker for HK's light LEM trigger and love my P30L a lot too

If its a preban gun it usually has pre ban features.
I.E Threaded muzzles bayonet lugs pistol grips and all other scary military features. What you got is a ban gun that some chucked the thumb off stock off it and crammed a normal stuck in a slant cut gun.Slant cut became a thing after the assault weapon ban because the square cut receivers cracked thumb hole stocks to much.
Even vepr does slant cut receivers on there civi / featureless stuff.

I know of others who have pre bans without those features. Here's a wall of what's for sale at one of the local shops. A lot of them (shouldn't have said all earlier) don't have either of the features you're mentioning.

Also we're talking about the 94 ban right? Pistol grips and such? That's what I'm concerned about here.

I'm mostly worried because my serial number is 62**98, and I've read the year may be stamped onto the front or rear of the serial. I know a friend of mine's AK doesn't have anything that could be confused with a year on theirs, and was manufactured and is also Norinco and had the same importer. I'm just concerned because mine has 98 on the end of it, but I don't think they were even being imported then anyway.

Shit's confusing.

Their triggers aren't as bad as they're made out to be if you remove the magazine disconnect, it's a stiff heavy military style pull but it breaks clean enough. It's no Series 70 1911 trigger by any means but it isn't terrible. It shoots very nicely, it fits like a glove and the weight makes recoil nonexistent, and it eats absolutely everything I've put through it with no hiccups after I bought a $25 set of springs from Wolff as the original springs were really worn out. Mines a 1994 FN manufacture

I think it's a fantastic gun outside of the decent at best trigger but I've never been a trigger snob so that isn't an issue for me. Plus they're cool historic guns too that saw a huge range of service, and for being eight decades old they hold up well enough today. They're a nice mix of historical relevance while still being a practical shooter if you're OK with not having a modern high capacity polymer striker fired gun

Plus BHP and FAL is G O A T

I've looked for them, and original 18" barrels are stupid expensive for what they are, sometimes more expensive than entire model 12 shotguns.

It's cheaper just to chop it and I have no desire to keep it original, so that's probably what's going to happen. I'm not going to bubba it myself, I'll have a competent builder do it correctly.

>>34139892
I'm like 90% sure it will. I'd have one malf every two mags or so, and after a new set of springs I haven't had a single hiccup in it in the ~3 years I've had it and maybe 5k rounds

Be careful though, they're a real bitch to detail strip. The main spring is a huge PITA to deal with. A guy on YouTube (I think his username is Celtic Armory or something like that) has a good video showing a complete detail strip, watch that and if it seems like it'll be too much to deal with just bring it to a gunsmith. When I first got mine I detail stripped it as it was greasy and it sucked, then when I eventually got it cerakoted I just had the gunsmith that cerakoted it replace the springs for me because it sucks
>>
So I've heard that I'm not the only one to get fucked over by PSA. I bought a build kit and barreled receiver on sale for $479 total and when I got it and started looking at it I noticed there was a gap between the bolt and front trunnion. I put a mag in and tried to cycle a few rounds and they'd be stuck in the chamber every few rounds, badly enough that I had to use a mallet to get them out. Every single round that chambered had a burr left on the bottom of the case. Can I trust PSA to unfuck this? I've already gotten my repair shipping label, just have to get a box and a new printer.

Yeah it's all crooked and poorly finished, I love how slapped together and Egyptian it all is

It wears pretty unevenly inside the gas tube but it doesn't effect function at all, I've only put like 600 rounds through it since I got it last year (prefer my vz if I'm shooting 7.62x39) and it hasn't given me any issues. I have no idea what it's prior round count is before I got it. If the worst comes to the worst I've got a NOS Egyptian gas tube for it just in case but I highly doubt it'll ever give me any reason to need to replace the gas tube

>Some of the reasons it doesn't get used much...
It destroys my steel targets terribly bad, eats right through my limited steel backstops that flatten 54r steel core with borderline 0 damage.
It's a heavy pig of a gun for plinking around, which is almost 100% of my shooting.
And 30cal is more fun, so I'm usually dragging out my 762xXY rifles instead.
But on the plus side, tracers are reasonably cheap, so super fun to shoot out into the distant hillsides at dusk.

I've just always wanted a 1988 dated Izhmash AKS74 and only recently finally bit the bullet for a kit after asking Chimps and '83 anon a million and one questions about it. I mean the (You)s will be nice but at the end of the day these 1988 AK74 kits are quite common and the rifle won't be anything special, I'm just happy to have finally taken the dive after a few years being unsure about it and doing it with the exact kit I was wanting in the first place (even though I've decided on fixed stock cuz I've already got an SLR for 4.5mm folding needs and outside of autism it's close enough)

Yeah, I was convinced Hillary would win.
But seriously, it's the only way I can get all my guns close enough to fit in a decent picture any more. Any further apart and my camera starts to show how crappy it really is.
If I had my choice, I'd take pics with the full sized ones at least then use the 10rd mags for most of my actual shooting.
I guess I'm a little OCD about size/weight when I'm shooting too. That weight doesn't sounds like that much, but a ~10% difference is easy to feel.

They're Bulgarian kits on us receivers.
Totally not matching and a lot of them have rough furniture. To me it appears like they took all the parts from a bunch of guns sandblasted them all, and then parkerized them. Probably just had a huge pile of parts and they grabbed them randomly to assemble the rifles, which would explain why none of the numbers match. Some of my components have a little bit of pitting under the park, but it's covered and it works fine. Good project to make it look pretty. I used indoor/outdoor black rustoleum and put Russian laminate on mine. It shoots great, was dead on target out of the box, and is really accurate, even with the wolf ammo.

Has anything more came of the Lee Armory stuff? I know in the buyers guide it says "no one knows," but I'm really liking the looks of a BFPU model and it seems Atlantic and Lee are the only ones offering them for a decent price.

Did it require much fitting? I think I'd enjoy my x54r Vepr more if it had a better trigger, the stock one is garbage.
>>
>>34145573
Yes, cold file it. Theres a rivet that blocks the hammer halfway to the firing pin. It is dangerously light, and required a new trigger spring because of light primer strikes. I dont honestly reccomend it unless your willing to put in the work to make it work which isnt worth it lol.

It's basically 9mm+p, maybe +p+ if you buy from underwood/ buffalo bore. It's mostly a reloaders cartridge and if I'm not mistaken for a long time 1911s in 38 headspaced off the rim - so they weren't very accurate. I still get why you want one though

Because it's cool and unique and from everything I've read it's a very pleasant round to shoot and easy to reload, so it would be a nice gateway into reloading. Its a fast and flat shooting cartridge and I just think it'll be cool to have one. I've got my share of 9mm pistols and this'll be something similar but different

>>34146408
Their popularity in Latin America has nothing to do with why I want one but I do think that's a really cool little side note of the caliber. .38 Super is almost a cultural thing down there and that's cool

>>34146442
Colt switched to headspacing off the case mouth a while back so that isn't really an issue anymore and you can buy rimless brass that should work reliably with little to no tweaking to the gun, although from what I've read the semi rim can cause problems in the mag and with feeding like other rimmed magazine fed guns but apparently it's an easy fix to iron out any issues related to that
