I have other guns and this one is a more general tool, though I personally wouldn't recommend it. There are some glaring flaws in the design of the pushing arm and the base that host the slide (which are not hard to overcome, but this shit isn't free and it shouldn't be an issue).

I used a bake to cure header paint for the frame because ceracoat is expensive, and the slide I buffed to a shine then scotchbritted length wise until it had the brushed finish I wanted, I also filled the barrel and barrel bushing flush with the face of the slide, then I recrowned the barrel.

I'm probably going to leave the magwell be since that part of the gun is aesthetic as fuck, but I'm thinking about a vortex sight on a rear dovetail mount with a TLR-1 HL, and some sort of compensator. The only issue is that the comp and a threaded barrel are going to cost me an arm and a leg for not that much benefit.
>>
>>34150596
And I'm not interested in one of those rear dovetail charging handles. Putting that kind of stress that holds the optic in place sketches me out. I wish they made a low profile knob or handle that didnt need special installation.

>Putting that kind of stress that holds the optic in place sketches me out
Thats understandable, but keep in mind that this thing is going to be flung back and forth by violent explosions repeatedly. I doubt your hand racking strength is going to really do much by comparison.
>>
>>34150650
Well its riding with the slide and slamming back and forth at high speed, but my concern is that when pulling it back, youre putting a lot of angular force on one side of it, and the weight of the spring/slide is well below that point as well, so you're probably going to be pulling it upwards as well as to the side. Shouldnt be a real problem, but I just don't trust it.
>>
>>34150358
What kind of effect does the magwell have on your magazine compatibility?
>>
>>34150737
Magazines all need new baseplates.

On one hand, it does make loading a but faster and doing it blind is easier, but on the other hand, I'm not sure I care.

I'm not set on keeping the magwell on there.

>>34150713
All of that is force you're going to be putting on the slide to rack it anyway. Having handled it, it is not flexing or moving at all. It's overbuilt.
>>
>>34150764
Well, it being overbuilt is good. I rarely slingshot, especially with CZs, so I'd probably end up racking it with my hand against the optic mount on the top of it anyway.

I got my CZ 75BD for $575 while glock 19s were going for $600, beretta 92s going for $700, and sigs going for $1,100. This was just last year. Compared to other comparable 9mm options CZs are a bargain.
>>
>>34151260

This.

CZ's are literally the best gun for their value. You can grab a fucking SP-01, cerakote it in gloss black, and it literally will never rust thereby nullifying the major issue with CZ's in general. You now have yourself a great range toy, home defense gun, and something you can use to cut your teeth on at USPSA and shit.

It is not mine but this is.

The barrel bushing greatly increases the accuracy of the gun. Standard CZ's have a fair bit of wobble between the slide and frame that means they're not as accurate as they could be and the bushing fixes this.

My SP-01 pictured here is an Orange version that had limited release last year. Their slides were hand fitted so they're very accurate out of the box which is why I opted not go get the Accu Bushing.

Yup. Brash punch and hammer all day everyday. I had to knock out the sights on like a hundred guns once and it didn't take to long using a punch. Getting the knew ones in was a bit more difficult because sometimes a slide or sight would get dinged and I'd have to refinish it.

Yeah pic is missing the brass punch for sight work but when I wanted to start working on my CZ I picked up a brass hammer and a bunch of starrett punches. I fucked my first sights up pretty bad with the steel ones before I grew a brain and bought the brass punch and some nylon sight pushers. I fucking LOVE the nylon pushers, absolutely zero impact on the finish of whatever they hit. The brass punch still kinda leaves a mark if I hit it hard enough.

To be honest I dont think I really needed the sight pusher but it's a nice thing to have around. It makes getting a sight started coming out way easier which is a big deal because the one thing I don't have on my workbench is a damn vise, and it's a bitch to do sight work without one.

So for the bushing, that just acts as like a linkage that keeps the slide and frame more well anchored?

>They used to be cheaper but then demand happened.

Look into Tanfoglio. Italian steel frame 9mm CZ clone for $305 right now - or Poly for $270 if you have no taste.
Basically Tanfo cloned the pre-B CZ-75 back in the day, and has forked off in their own direction with differences in the trigger mech and firing pin block. Most CZ clones are Tanfoglio on the inside - Jericho and Sphinx included. It's my humble opinion that Tanfo's design went in a better direction than CZ's - the two Tanfos and one Jericho I own all have better triggers than any 75B I've handled - they're almost as clean as 85 Combat or Pre-B triggers.
My only beef is that Tanfo uses investment casting, not forging, for their lower end frames - this caused issues with cracked frames in harder-recoiling calibers in the past.

>>34152247
imo, Tanfo makes sense in two areas - You're looking for the best bang for your buck, in which case the base model $305 steel and $270 poly guns are the best kept secrets for CZ fans, or if you're looking for a full-on IPSC ready out of the box race guns, in which case their top-end models are comparative steals compared to anything else you can build or buy.

I kick myself for not having bought more CZs back when they were ridiculously cheap, but I'm not making the same mistake with Tanfo.

SP-01 ambi parts will not fit due to different frame thicknesses - if any other Ambi parts exist that will fit the P-01, I don't know.

Lol, no it doesn't. Or do you not know how to operate right handed guns as a sinistral? Come on my man, it's a right-hand world, you should have adapted by now. Do you use a left-handed mouse too?

Mag release is easily operated if you use a thumb over thumb grip and use your index finger. Slide lock can easily be released with your index finger, you don't need to pull back on the slide to release it. Decocker can be manipulated with the inside of your index finger, but I don't like decockers, so IMO you fucked up there anyway.

No it doesn't, I am a lefty. I have an SP-01, P-09, RAMI, and soon to be P97. Of these guns, the only problem I have with ANY OF THEM is RAMI's slide-lock being literally too well engineered and consequently needing to be replaced with an SP-01's so I can properly actuate the pistol. I have no idea why you don't know how to operate right handed guns as a lefty. If anything this ability gives you a massive advantage by default.

The ones on the compact especially look like they've got nice grain pattern. IMO the full checker doesn't look as good, but having shot with the half checker a bit, I think the full checker are the way to go if it's a gun you plan to shoot. These ones are just too damn slippery up top. That's why I ended up switching to the aluminum w/ grip tape. That, and because even more thinness.
>>34154586
I already own four sets of grips and have at least 3 more that I'm interested in. Now you're gonna add more to that list? Goddammit.

Haha you replied to me with both of those. By the book you wrote I'm guessing you're the same guy that's talked to me about Tanfo before, and Im still very interested. We discussed them being compatible with my current assortment of magazines and the fit/finish on the high end stuff from them is quite nice. Only thing I dont love about the Stock line aesthetically is the import engraving that reminds me of shitting electrostencil writing on surplus guns.

Was thinking of getting a P-07 as my first 9mm and my first CZ. Opinions? My only other pistol is a .45 1911. Only caveat is I'm in NY, and 10 round mags might not be as common as I'm hoping for. I'm thinking P-07 or Glock 19.
>>
>>34149964

Save up.
>>
>>34157282
1) I wanted to start with a "base" gun and upgrade from there so that I could make my own choices in terms of what sights/grips/internals I upgrade to
2) I'm a college student and it's a pain to afford the higher end models with their big up-front cost
3) I like to tinker and modify stuff so I actually enjoyed learning to do the work needed to bring this pistol up to the standards of more costly options
4) It's just what my LGS had in stock one day and I bought it on impulse. Haven't seen too many SP models there before or after the shipment when I bought mine.
>>
>>34156824
Those aluminum ones look sexy but I shoot a fat gun, talking around web of hand area like with SIG 226 or Betetta a lot better than guns where they narrow that part. Kind of want the thin grips for aesthetic and carry but the personal fit isn't there.

For what it's worth, some of the aluminum grips are thicker than others. Probably not thick enough for your liking though.

>>34157792
You can probably expect to pay around 500-600 for more basic models, 600-700 for higher-end ones like the SP-01, and over 1000 for the competition models. Those are new prices in the current market. Not long ago it was closer to 450 new for a base model 75B. :(

>>34157335
With the power of Greg Cote LLC, you can get as many mags as you want. Unfortunately, it looks like factory mags are the only ones available in 10rd variants, so you won't be able to go with MecGar to save money.

Guilty as charged. I'm probably one of the only resident Tanfoglio fanboys on /k/.
EAA can suck a fat one for their import markings. I really wish they'd stop rebranding them as "Witness" too.
They're great guns and EAA just doesn't do them justice as an importer, especially compared to how CZUSA handles things.
The higher end ones tend to come with better markings - both from the factory and from EAA. The lower end guns come with dot matrix style stampings, higher end ones are engraved.
On my basic 9mm Full Size, I just wiped over EAA's import marks with some black nail polish to subdue it a bit. Came out nice.

Honestly if you're on the fence, I really do recommend the $305 gun. Zero failures in about 1200 rounds and shoots better than my 75B. If you like it, you can go out and get a Stock 2 or 3 and still come out a couple hundred cheaper than a comparable SP01 Shadow.

>>
>>34161133
The only real difference is that the PCR is alloy instead of steel, has a loaded chamber indicator, and has non-snag sights. It's also ever so slightly thicker becasue the alloy frame has to be thicker than the steel, and as a result it tends to fit very tightly in normal 75D Compact holsters.
>>
>>34161297
Interesting, since my CZ-75D Compact has an alloy frame and has all of those features.

I have never seen one stamped PCR, it's always cz75d compact, as shown on their site

The CZ names for their guns changes depending on the market they're sold to. Sometimes they ship stuff meant for the euro market to the US, resulting in stuff like that. The other common one is seeing P-01 with a slide that just says compact.

Most of them seem to but not all. CZ is like that, they change shit like finish on the trigger or barrel without really making anything out of it. If i had to hazard a guess, the silver triggers might be disappearing along with the 85 series, which often featured them.

The top is the same, its the frame thats going to be different.

Im guessing cz didnt have enough of the correct stamped slides and just mixed and matched.
