I, uh, may have accidentally tricked a gunsmith into breaking 922r on one of my guns. all the wording in the actual law seems to be "assemble", rather than "possess", is this correct? in that case, is the gunsmith liable, or am I, or are we both? and will this expire with the statute of limitations?
pic related, the gun in question.

The only times people get charged with 922r violations are tacked on to weapons used in crimes or bulk selling without an FFL.
Plus, who is to say that your gun isn't 922r compliant? Not everything made in America has a rollmark.

you didn't break any laws because the firearm in question has unfortunately been lost in a boating accident

>gunsmith know you know, gunsmith is leaving a tag on you, and will rat you out if feds ask.
What type of gun and parts? I you probably only violate 922r when you use foreign mags making it your fault.
