A thread for land mines and other delayed munitions to hamper the enemy.
I'll start with the LAAAS (Low-Altitude Airfield Attack System). A british system, although it was copied by the germans in the form of the Mehrzweckwaffe 1 (Vid related), it was designed to destroy airfields and/or mine large swaths of territory very quickly.
The mine in question was the HB 876 mine. Of British origin, she has a filling weight of 590 grams of composition B, with a total weight of 2.4 kg. The JP233 carried 30 SG-357 runway cratering submunitions, while the front section carried 215 HB-876 anti-personnel mines. The top of the mine was to have a shaped charge effect, while the dimpled sides, like a golf ball, would have good shrapnel effect outwards. The mine is slowed by a drogue parachute, and safetly deposted on the ground via a main parachute, hidden in the bottom, after being deposited from either a cluster munition or from the JP233 dispenser. It also had a sunflower pattern of self righting, which would activate after landing, but before arming.
Here's the toe popper. Aptly named.
