post the optimal SHTF loadout, cowboy style is obvious choice, single caliber for both rifle and pistol, reasonable weight for fully loaded ammo belt, lever/single action lends to disciplined ammo use, pistol for CQ, rifle for hunting and area defense, aesthetic as fuck

9/10 kit, holster a bit flashy, but cowboys love that bedazzle
>>34133220
Why is the flash so bright?
I holeheartidly agree OP, setups that were historically used clearly work.

that picture is intended for cool guys only, try wearing sunglasses that should make it look normal.

It's a cowboy, it's clearly just the Texas sun shining in through the window.

a 5.56 AR pistol with an adam arms gas conversion
>>34133464
why would you want to carry two of the same gun but in multiple calibers so you're carrying fuckyourback weight, should probably throw and NV scope on there too
>>34133180
M47 medusa and a silenced 357 lever action with nvd.
>>34133434
obviously clears room by plugging chimney with jacket and tosses in whiskey molatov, waits and plinks the 3 jackos one by one as they flee from smoke and fire, do you even cowboy?

a rifle and pistol is how it was in the frontiers, that is all SHTF is
a return to frontiership
as for why two of the sameish platform, its a reliable platform with parts everywhere.
as for two different ammo types, its to diversify the availability
theres no point to having two guns in 5.56 and being unable to feed either
>>34133553
frontiers used same ammo for rifle and pistol, and didnt have a silly chopped down rifle they were calling a pistol that could only be accessably carried dangling on a sling instead of comfy hip riding, you also carrying smithing kit for repairing your guns with all those scavenged parts?

What kind of SHTF? Like, military takeover by a tyrannical government? Or just societal breakdown. DESU I'd just take a .22LR rifle in a surival breakdown. The ammo is light and abundant and there's plenty of small game near where I live, and it's enough for protection in an emergency, or at least intimidation.
In a military resistance I would choose the AR380,

Me thinks the most likely SHTF is a really bad depression or a pandemic, so I'll just keep on doing as I do now and hunt with my 700 and use an 870 when someone's at the gate.
When in doubt, use angry peasant rifle and any combat worthy 9mm.
>>34133646
lets say global pandemic societal collapse, not necassarily abundant roving violent gangs or militaries but you need to be able to protect yourself
>>34133646
I've been in this game awhile and I can't find any info on an "AR380." I'm curious as to whether you mistyped or if I'm misinformed?
>>34133500
It's a shame that they stopped making the Medusa, they sell for like $5k now
>>34133646
(OP)'s scenario entails mother running out of tendies and hidden valley, thus requiring a heroic trip to walmart before curfew.
>>34133700
Fuck colt. If they hadn't been so fixated on the brand name, they could have sold ludicrous numbers of the things.
