9mm Luger rounds are now illegal in Europe due to their ties with Nazi-era weaponry. If you are comfortable with a little risk, you can try 9mm Parabellum, but avoid any rounds marked as having Zyklon-B primers.

That's fudd talk, but this is such a trivial change that not even the most passionate min-maxer would "upgrade" to 9mm Auto. We've designed so many pistol cartridges that we know exactly what people want, need, and can handle. As a species, we've found we work best with bullets from .35 to .40 going at least 1100 fps. Little changes to good cartridges are a waste of time, the future is in improving powder so we can make faster bullets with less brass and moving towards spitzer cartridges for pistols after we've mastered propellant enough to use long, thin bullets in pistols.
