I'm looking to get a little pocket-able 9mm, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Sig P938 or the Kimber Micro 9. I have a couple of reservations about both (Exeter QC vs Kimber QC), but I'm interested in both.

Any /k/ommandos have experience with one or both? I handled both side by side in the gun store yesterday, and found the ergonomics of both nice, so my observations basically came down to

>Sig has night sights from the factory
>Sig has an ambi safety (Wife is a lefty)
>Kimber is cheaper than the Sig
>Kimber has CrimsonTrace grips for only $80 more than the Sig (and I do like lasers for self-defense guns)

Any thoughts from anyone? Or any other pocket 9s with safeties I should look at?
>>
>>34128090
Micro 9 is NOT a good idea man
I bought a sig 938 since I liked my dads 238 but wanted some more power than a .380
Thing is an absolute cunt to shoot, 9mm's are way too hot for a pocket pistol and not only does accuracy suffer from the shitty barrel length, but the kick from a 9 plus the high bore axis makes the thing flip like a fucking seal
Follow up shots are impossible with these
I see it being successful as a literal point blank defense gun but I'd never shoot it again otherwise, and at that poijt your better off getting something more suited to that job like .32
>>
>>34128120
I have a Glock 26 right now, and I don't feel very hindered by the muzzle flip shooting gold dot +Ps.
It's there, and it's harder to shoot than a full size, but I wouldn't call it unmanageable.
Considering most self defense happens at nearly point blank, I don't see it as an issue - though I haven't really considered 380s and their advantages either.

Do NOT buy kimber. My micro carry is the worst piece of shit jam-o-matic ive ever owned. I cant imagine the 9 being any better.
>>
>>34128090
SIG IS NO REAL 1911

TRIGGER IS OF PIVOTING DESIGN NOT SUPERIOR STRAIGHT REARWARD MOVING DESIGN OF JOHN MOSES BROWNING

idk about you but that seriously curbed the enthusiasm i had for the design...
>>
I have a p938 nightmare. Best small conceal pistol I've shot yet. I've put 400 rounds through it and only 1 ftf in the first 20 rounds or so. I don't know why the other guy thought it's jumpy but I think it's quite manageable.
>>
>>34128120
I shot a 938 not long ago after shooting low weight 357 magnum for the first time. The 938 had drastically more recoil. Caught me off guard, desu. I've only ever shot double stack 9's with roughly 4 inch barrels before that.
>>
>>34130439
Is Kimber's QC shit across the board?
I know a lot of people shit just as much on Exeter-made Sigs, but their issues seem to be limited to just a couple of models. For the prices either one is going for though, you'd really expect more from them, though.

>>34130472
Comes down to preference. The pivoting trigger reminds me of CZs, 1911 triggers are fine be me too.

Neither one is truly a 1911 though - no bushing, no grip safety.

Quality is fine on mine it just jams a lot. Which is scary for your main cc pistol
>>
>>34130825
Knowing that it jams a lot, it's still your primary carry?
>>
>>34128090
938 is a much better gun.
>>
>>34131014
At the moment its all I have. Cant justify buying a p238 while I still have it and I cant cc a fullsized usp45.
>>
>>34130680
Kimber QC is worse than exeter-sigs.

IIRC like sig they used to be a fine company but then changed mentality or ownership and started cost cutting to increasing degrees. Poor quality small parts are the norm. Issues due to ineffective quality control are common. Kimber CS is usually pretty good but can also be semi-frequently terrible. In general they are just not a company you can rely on. Frankly they ask way too much for their work as well .

I would literally rather buy an RIA than a kimber any day of the week. You'd have the same chance of getting a dud but RIA would have the business smarts to make it right for you and not rape you in the pocket book for the privilege of the experience.
>>
>>34131619
Buy a replacement for now and then post yours on armslist and make a blood oath with yourself that once you sell it the money will go right back in your bank and not be blown on booze and hookers
>>
>>34128205
the glock 26 has a bit more beef to handle all that with. IMO its not even a pocket gun, being a double stack like that
pocket guns are slim and subcompact and not fun to shoot for long periods

how about legit baby 1911s? I really want a compact in 9mm and have heard of all the jamming issues but Ii still want one. Surely somebody makes a good one?

>>34131924
not OP, but I'll say this: i picked up a p2000sk in .40 on a ridiculous bargain, took it to LGS/range, ran 2 mags through it and sold it on the spot. thing flipped so bad i seriously thought i was going to drop it or worse.
subcompacts with anything resembling spicy ammo are not for me.
was looking at a p938 but after seeing what people have said here i'm not so sure. how's the p238?
>>
>>34131966
this
>>34131941
why in 9mm
just get a springfield, colt, or ruger sr1911c in it's intended caliber.
>>
The Commander model 1911s are infamous for being unreliable jam-o-matics. It's your money/life though.
>>
Used to have a p938. Loved it. Sold it to pay off debt tho, cuz I only ever carried my Glock 19, and didn't need a subcompact any more.

>Kimber is cheaper than the Sig
You can get a p938 Sports 13 cheap as hell if you wait for it.
>>
>>34130439

almost every gun magazine has kimber ad's on the back cover, is this to make up for poor quality ?
>>
>>34128120
>Thing is an absolute cunt to shoot, 9mm's are way too hot for a pocket pistol
WTF? if you cant handle a 938 you need to carry pepper spray. For Christ sake it's one of the best pocket 9mm out there without the problems of the kimber. My wife carrys one and she likes it better than her full size PX4. She tested several guns for a few hours before deciding on 938 because of low recoil and nicer trigger. She only weighs 125lb
>>
How's the kimber ultra carry 2? My dad's been eyeing one any other suggestions would be fine too, but he wants a stainless steel, don't think It has to be 1911 style
Shitty fucking twist In that this is in California
>>
>>34128090
P938. They're small but point pretty nicely and conceal well with the flush mag, while being tolerable to shoot with the extended mag. They're pretty aggressively checkered, so if you have thin finger skin you might be complaining a bit.
>>
>>34131725
I will, thanks anon.
>>
>>34128120
>150 pound manlet with bitch hands detected
Sig P938 is my EDC and I practice with it often. It's a dream to shoot as far as subcompacts go. If you think it has unmanageable recoil I suggest you sell you guns and buy a shiny new rape whistle.
>>
>>34128090

I had a kimber micro, and let me tell you - they are shit. Visible part defects. They had an issue for years with their recoil spring. Essentially theyre just playing catch up to sig and trying to copy them.

Stick with sig - you get night sights too.

The fuck are you talking about? My P938 is fine and much more comfortable than my .38 Snub.

>>34128090
The 938 is awesome. You will not be disappointed
>>
Sig obviously, but the Colt Mustang is pretty good too.
>>
I shot a P938 once and I felt that it had less recoil than my G43, but I'm not a fan of single action only for a pocket gun..

I like the G42 over the G43. 9mm recoil is a bit stiff in any gun that weighs less than 26 oz. Glock 26 is the smallest gun in 9mm that is easy to shoot.

Check out the p238.
>>
>>34128090

also look at ruger lc9s

reliable budget blaster
>>
>>34128120
Is this bait? Have you shot any small 9mm guns?

I shoot a p938 regularly, and I've shot a lc9 a few times. It's not bad at all, not quite as soft as any full size, but I went through 200 rounds with my p938 in about an hour or so. Shits fun as fuck to shoot.

Really? I think the lcp series triggers suck. My father in law has 380 & 9mm. I thought about buying one as a truck gun or while wearing shorts to the beach (Florida I cant always wear enough clothing to hide one of my 1911) but opted for a P64 for cheep and just reworked it's trigger.

Its more accurate. And I don't care if it gets run over or used as a dog chew toy
>>
>>34137366
See, if you leave your gun unattended in the open where your dog can get to, you probably deserve the pup using it as a chew toy.

I know it isn't a nine, and is not a pocket gun, however I am curious about the Browning 1911-380. It looks pretty fun, and easy to carry. Hard to justify the size and price though. Anyone own one?
>>
>>34128090
See if there's an olympic (or safari) arms enforcer going second hand anywhere near you.
>>
>>34128090
So, what do you get from getting a little m1911 in 9mm over a hi-power or a CZ 75?
>>
>>34138826
The stainless Kahr's Are god-tier compact/pocket-size concealed carry pistols.

The 1911 is a god-tier full size pistol.

The Kahr would make for an utterly shit military or LE sidearm because it's featureset was designed around small size, concealability, and trigger consistency.

A mini 1911 makes for a shit CCW gun because it's featureset and fundamental design elements were optimized around use in a full-frame weapon to be used as a traditional sidearm.

I don't get what part of it is so hard to wrap your head around.
>>
>>34139749
Not that anon, but you are stating your opinions as facts. What you want in your ccw, is not going to be the same for everyone else.

Also, you are telling him he doesn't want what he wants, and then getting upset when he doesn't jump on your bandwagon to buy what you want him to buy.
