An older cousin of mine was a state trooper for about 10 years before he opened is own "bond enforcement agency." I tagged along with him for a few marks. It was actually kind of fun for sure, but most of it involved sitting around and staking out known places of interest.

They type of bounty hunting they're doing is going after big named felons on the "wanted" list. That's pretty dangerous shit, and most people don't do that. At most, the bounty hunter might find the guy and then have the police show up to arrest him. The money is still the same as bringing him in.

I'm also curious. Was this in Dallas? I was under the impression that bounty hunting of any kind was illegal in Texas.

I've had experience on both sides of detainee proceedure, a cav scout that gave courses on it showed me a few things, when I went to a course that was a little different on procedure I mentioned it so the detainee decided, I won't resist but I'll make this as difficult as possible, got a visible "huh" look when I pulled a trick from the first course. My agency has 46 full time officers. At any given moment, 9 to 10 are on duty.

Now keep in mind that usually warrant apprehensions take a lot fucking more than knocking on a guy's door. When I worked with the county's warrant squad, we had to sit on houses for hours. And we only had the manpower to focus on high risk guys.

Contrary to popular belief, not every law enforcement agency is the NYPD or LAPD with near unlimited resources. Most of us are grossly under staffed and under funded.
