That vietnam helmet I got that has the dent on it, what would be the best method to get rid of that dent? Do i use a rubber mallet or what?
Has anyone here ever walked on boots with hobnails?
What's that shit like.
>>34124804
I'm giving up on my search for M05.
I'm going to buy another set of Wz2010.
>>34125259
It's a nice camo. Pretty good for the Midwest during autumn and spring, and is passable in summer. In the woods in winter it would seem alright, too.
Are the only advantages of Patrol smocks over normal duds more pockets and insulation?
>>34125324
Waterproofing?
>>34124865
If you want to restore it. Use a rounded thick wooden dowel and a mallet. If your wil lingo repaint. Heat it with a blow torch.
>>34125124
It's just like any other shoe, you don't really notice the difference. If you start noticing the difference, there's a problem with them.
>>34124865
Or maybe let the dent in it. Gives it character
Did Spook died?
I'm still holding onto these for him.
Just got a vague email from /k/ommando store about a boot restock. Does that mean he'll have more para boots? I want another pair.
>>34126866
I called him out over the woobie bullshit and he hasn't been back since.
anybody happen to have recommendations on vented or new/reproduction jungle type boots?

HOW
THE FUCK
DO YOU DEAL WITH THEM
mine are properly sized, heated, broken in wet, dry, a thousand different ways and they STILL make my ankle fucking bleed even with a brand new insole
unbeknownst to me, I got drunk at a meet and shouted for about a half hour about how bad they were while trying to get them untied
>>34129259
Maybe soften and condition them? Yeah they were a bitch to break in but I used saddlesoap and polished them and wore 2 pairs of socks. Hope it helps man
>>34129259
Have you tried manning up you little batty boy?
It do take some conditioning of your feet to get used to wearing boots full time.
I've never cared much for surplus clothing, but I recently bought a Belgian parka because it was $12. Threw it in the washer and now it has holes. Is that something you're not supposed to do or was it just poor quality? Anyways, a $12 loss isn't gonna make me cry, but I'd like to know for future reference what to do and not do. Thanks
Actually the holes aren't too bad and I guess they kinda add to the character. I'll just deal with it. Thanks guys
>>34130757
>>34131278
What else did you wash it with? Unless it was already damaged, that shouldn't happen.
>>34131308
just normal clothes: tshirts and jeans. One of the pairs of jeans got a bit scuffed, but overall no other damage except to the jacket
Okay. Swiss M1918/40 with camo cover, or Finnish M40/55? Which Should I get? I'm not sure which is gonna disappear from the market sooner.
>>34130386
I did all of that man. They're fucking death, still.
>>34130487
I work on my feet all the damn time, it's hard to man up when your boots are wearing actual bleeding holes into your feet

Not sure about those, but US military boots are half sized down to accommodate for layered socks.

>>34126906
what does the /k/ommando store call them paratrooper boots actually?
Afaik they aren't paratrooper but just regular light field boots.

I can't find one with the same collar type, this is pretty much the closest I can find. Mine is the only one I've seen with those kind of lapels

>check to see if shell and chinstraps are from korean war
>they are painted green put spray painted due to some fuckwit covering everything in paint and theres areas where paint was dripping
>try to repair chinstraps that were bent but the fasteners snapped off yet i was careful with getting them off
Sorry but I'm gonna restore the damn shell. I do knwo i use sand for the finish and I am ordering new unissued chinstraps to replace the fucked ones. I'm not shitting you the paint is chipped t hell and the shell ahs no finish on it, just the fuckwits half assed paintjob on it. However I would like to know the shade of green they put on the helmets so i can go to home depot to get the paint matched (its fucking magic how they can get every color and get a cheap paint sprayer and make it look like factory new
However the liner is in marvelous new condition so theres that
>>34174186

I was intending on removing them and straightening them out but fucking hell I feel like an idiot. I bought the same chinstraps off ebay tho9ugh and I know how to get them on
>>34174617

>>34174622
Helmet with cover and accessories. My god that dent is bothering the shit out of me
>>34174627
I can tell the liner was a separate buy after the seller got the shell since it's in new condition. From 1968, getting the napestrap in was the biggest fucking pain. Overall from the pictures I posted, what do you think?
>>34174656
Is it a low or high profile helmet? Weird paint too
>>34174825
Low of High profile? What does that mean? But yeah the paint is odd
>>34174835
Ww2/kore/early nam helmets have a dealer profile and sir lower on the head. It's hard to tell from just one helmet, but if you put them next to another it's a giveaway.
Both of these are rear seam helmets, right one I found in my granfathers barn. It's totally straight with minor rusting and perfect paint and sand. Left I bought a few years ago for $60, darn green overcoat with lighter green showing through, and cork I believe though it isn't fixed bail.
>>34174895
Mine resembles the left one
>>34174895
Full of speaking mistakes damn it's late.
Korea, higher profile, sit lower, grandfather's, dark green.
>>34174922
It's really all personal preference since it will be covered with a cover and stuff, I wouldn't worry about it for now. Atleast you have a helmet!
>>34174947
Yeah it is pretty cool now I got a nam helmet. So now I have a ww1, 22, korea, vietnam and gulf war helmet
>>34174609
My steel pot also has areas where the paint is chipping and where it looks like it was running. Thing is though, this is not uncommon, repaints happened all the time while a helmet is in service and just looking at the color of paint and where it's been worn off and such really makes me believe that your helmet wasn't repainted by some idiot in his backward but probably while the helmet was still in service. Also the color does appear to be the apple green which would be the standard M1 helmet color from 1968 until it's replacement, my guess is that the original paint was almost gone so it was quickly repainted and then stuffed back on a rack to be reissued.
>>34174953
That makes a lot more sense than my theory. Honestly I think I might leave the paint be since it's gonna have a cover but I am gonna have to replace the chinstraps. Thank you for your help!
Is this a safety concern? The wood doesn't seem to shift at all. This is on a 91/30 stock

OKZK stuff is treated with something to absorb chemicals/gas so you'd probably want a warm wash, only thing is that they tend to get worn out fast.
As for the Gimnasterka, usually for old things I give them a cold hand-wash with a mild soap.
>>34132034

>>34180791
>>34179209
That's genuinely quite annoying, it looks like good stuff. Well what comes close to it then? Why do militaries just love destroying good gear?
>>34185299
Muh security basically. Mexico and Ireland destroy their surplus so that cartels/IRA don't get their hands on them and impersonate them.
Allegedly the Swedes used to sell their M90 as surp until one day a dude infiltrated a base wearing a uniform he put together.
A lot of Euro countries, particularly Sweden, Denmark, and Norway have banned Permethrin from being used within their borders but use it for uniforms, so that's one reason why desert uniforms from those countries are so rare and hard to find as they are required to burn them all before they even return to their home country.
Really just old Brit OD uniforms and '58 pattern gear would be your best bet if you're going for a recreation or something, just find some Irish insignia and throw it on.
Not sure if it has a specific name, but whatever OD they wore pre-DPM in the 60's should work.
>>34185392

Do milsurp cartridge belts and pouches still show up, or are those all gone now? I'd love a classic leather pouch sort of thing.
>>34186808
The 1903 leather bandoliers (in brown) you see in that pic are mostly repro now.
Protip: Search for Star Wars Jawa bandoliers and you will get cheaper repro of the same thing.
Otherwise they're piss easy to build yourself.
For any other generic leather milsurp pouches, you can get eastern european ones very easily.
>>34186932

As long as it's purely for aesthetics then just get a nice normal brown leather belt with a really basic buckle but if you're wanting to be able to wear it over your shoulder then you should expect the belt to warp a little bit either around your shoulder or hip, you would need an extra 45 degree link to make up for this. Or just wear it under a coat or something and no one will know.

Soles are a bit used but in good condition. I really like the aged look on them and the seller did say the leather is still soft, I am still gonna recondition them and reshape them with my shoe trees

So I changed my order to Nylon Cotton mix, cost me a bit extra but oh well.
I'm not up for making repro uniforms, simply because I was hoping to do something different this time around.
>>34196341
Pup tent?
Headwear?
Umbrella?
Oven mitt?
Quilt?
If you made a m42 uniform in Mitchell id buy it.
>>34196341
A dress.
>>34196652
Where abouts are you? I wouldn't ship to the US.
I'm thinking of some kind of haversack? The pup tent would be nice but that'd be all the material gone and I like having off cuts available for bits and bobs.
>>34197344
That's where I am, no problemo senpai. Where did you get the print? Mitchell is my favorite camouflage.
>>34197359
Looks easy enough, I'll see if I can find the pattern. There's a few good sites, just need to have a quick google lad.
Anyone know where I could buy a Czech army woodland parka in Europe? Can't seem to find one (at least in my size).

Anyone know where to find a Rhodesian camo jacket like pic related?
>>34199824
I got one of each of those, assuming they don;t do another colour. I'll take some dispersion trousers if they do them.
>>34200642
Ah man, I actually like that.
I recently bought a Korean surplus jacket, but I'm not sure I like all of the patches on it. They seem corny and fake to me. Anybody here know if South Korean Airborne units would really patch themselves up like this?
I plan on removing the patches, so hoping nobody here says keeping them on is something special. I'd gladly hand out the patches here on /k/.

I actually went ANA's Rostov, mainly because the photo on the site was the same as in pic related (The updated picture on the site shows a better representation, as the brown is quite green).
It works rather well for my purposes (which is just daily wear- NOT operating), though I often wear it over a hoodie. It's also quite comfy, if I say so myself. That said, if I were to go back and change my decision, I'd probably go for the fleece-lined, just simply based on my circumstances.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is what you're buying it for. If you want a winter suit, I'd say go fleece. If you don't plan on going out in it below 20 degrees, most anything should be fine. If it's just a fashion item (like mine really was), just go with what looks coolest to you.
>>34209104
I really like how that looks. I'd wear that shit
>>34209067
Thanks jap.
>>34208985
It's not a problem i just think its cooler in i wanted one along time ago, i also believe that the sniper varients have it in.
>>34209178
I bought it because it looks low-key enough to wear out and about, but be warned it is very thick so it runs kinda small, I got a small, probably could have gone medium.
But it's warm as shit, the whole interior is lined with very soft fur pile.
>>34209182
Anything for you.

>>34207164

>>34209602
I might be wrong, but it looks more like just faded normal stuff. The woodland fades to near grey after one or two washes from my own experiences.
Knowing korea, it's the real stuff. I may be totally wrong.
>>34209791
IDK, it looks like it to me.
>>34209170
Thanks famalam
Not to sound like a shill, but has anyone ever gotten anything from southafricanmilitarysurplus co za? Some of that Nutria stuff seems kinda neat, and I'd rather not support NE or whatever.
I recently bought a '75 Soviet tanker helmet that has the forehead pad painted orange. Is this some kind of rank indicator or did some douche paint the front of his helmet for cosmetic reasons?
>>34212316
I've seen numbers but not orange paint. Could be for training like to designate someone's role.
>>34212594
I thought that too. It has the pink stamp under the neck flap if that helps.

I've only seen one other, it had a BGS patch and tab on the left shoulder, probably added by someone.
They aren't issue, they're Mil-tec/Sturm items that I guess were factory seconds or just some failed product, notably the sideways pattern.
I haven't seen any others besides these two.
Any anons have this boot, is it worth it?
I currently own this one and love it and I wanted to know if its an improvement.
