I'm not as pissed as I should be. I actually think it's hilarious.
>>
>>34122959
Since when were police allowed to even interpret the law? That's always been the responsibility of the Courts. The fact the RCMP is interpreting the law and enforcing it is inherently un-democratic. How people are okay with this is beyond me, fuck many Canadians even defend it.
>>
>>34122995
>Police state is a term denoting a government that exercises power arbitrarily through the power of the police force.

If lawful Canadian gun owners were as bloodthirsty as they claim, we'd have a maple snake every week.
>>
>>34123037
If you look at the statistics, Canadian gun owners are actually LESS likely to commit crimes compared to the general public.
>>
>>34122995
RCMP is essentially the ATF, except it has no oversight whatsoever and no one is willing to reign them in. From a legal standpoint, they're fucking terrifying, as they've since gone full blown Iamthelaw.png.
>>
>>34123056
The ATF, FBI and state police all rolled into one huge corrupt package.
>>
>>34123056
The best part is how they literally abuse the legal system to punish firearm owners. Even if they know they have no case against someone they'll still drag out the process as long as possible to force the person to waste as much time and money as possible. Oh, and because the RCMP drops the charges before a decision gets made they can avoid setting any legal precedents that would work against them.
>>
I've stopped giving a fuck about the RCMP's rulings. From a moral standpoint, I think it's actually a citizen's duty to disobey authorities who overstep their bounds. So fuck them, I will continue to hide my shit.
>>
>>34123066
Pretty much, they're exactly the kind of agency that make legal and political rights proponents wake up in a cold sweat. You never, ever stack jurisdiction, legal determination, and overall authority like was done with the RCMP if you're not some authoritarian shithole, but holy shit did Canada not get the memo

Can you imagine them trying to confiscate the thousands upon thousands of SKS in the country? A fool's errand.
>>
>>34123048
Because we're terrified of being locked up 5ever for wrongthink or for owning an AR and stopping at Tim's for coffee on the way back from the one and only designated restricted weapons range within a 3hr drive with the rifle unloaded and secured 7 ways till Sunday in the trunk. For Freedomland friends not in the know, yes that actually is a crime- "restricted" weapons (mostly pistols and ARs) must be transported directly between the home and the horse gestapo approved range with absolutely no deviation from the shortest possible horse gestapo approved route with absolutely no stops. Also, it costs slightly more time and money to (legally) own a gun here than it does over in freedomland, and the people who can afford it are by no fucking means rich, but typically at least have enough cash to live comfortably, and thus don't need to resort to crime, nor are willing to risk what they have for a little illegal fun.

Any anons know where to get one of those 12" single barrel backpackers? CanAm was all but giving them away for like $100 a few years ago, I haven't seen one anywhere since except for the EE where someone wants 225 for it which is horseshit.

>Going to put a pistolgrip on it, register it, and have a custom thigh holster made

You could probably find a cooey single shot shotgun for cheap. It won't be a 12" barrel, but it'll be infinitely better than those backpackers.

Don't think that would work for a restricted firearm, since it has to be registered to a specific location. Even if it was a non-restricted, you would still have the problem of getting a concealed weapon charge, but you could probably fight it.
>>
>>34128175
Its for an antique class firearm to get you up to speed.
>>
>>34128971
Might still hit you with the concealed weapon charge.
>>
question: if an antique is not considered a restricted or non-restricted "firearm", why does it still need to be registered???
>>
>>34129431
It's not a question of registration, so much as certified as being antique. It's only really a thing for firearms that can go either way (based on exact year of production), like webleys.

>>34125113
Your not from around here, are you?
>>
>>34128971
Antiques don't count as firearms for the purpose of licensing/registration, however they do count for the purposes of other criminal charges (IE robbing a store with an antique is still armed robbery and treated the same as using a modern gun).
>>
>>34131713
Strictly speaking, if you made a "finger pistol" in your jacket pocket while robbing a bank, your hand is considered a firearm for the purpose of charging you with a crime. Same shit with airsoft and the like.
>>
>>34131754
Yeah, basically if you convince the victims you have a gun, or otherwise have something that is, or appears to be a working gun, you get charged the same way as if you actually did use a gun.

Guys I'm looking for a nice bolt action to put a decent scope on. I just want to have one in my collection with the option of longer range target shooting or hunting down the road. What's a good caliber to get into? It seems like .308 and 30-06 are pretty popular. I want a fairly fuck you sized cartridge to recoil injure my bros when I take them out shooting as well. What should I be looking at?
>>
>>34132889
.308 is generally more common and cheaper than .30-06 and you can occasionally find surplus ammo for it, like that Hirtenberger stuff, for slightly worse (IIRC unnoticeable until after about 800 yards) ballistics and similar recoil.
>>
>>34133000

I'm also seeing a lot of Weatherby Vanguards for sale. Decent gun?
>>
>>34133119
Honestly not 100% sure, I'm not an expert in Savage rifles, though I've found they do tend to be on the cheaper side. For example, the Savage Scout rifle, most expensive I've found, can be found for sale around $950 in stores, of course that's without a scope on it, though that particular model does have irons.
http://www.theammosource.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_4_188&products_id=2433&zenid=26045bd65e9305b83f68681d401758d1 for reference.
>>
>>34133140

I like the look of these Ruger Scouts too. This package is above my ideal $1k budget but maybe I can stretch it.

https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1571498-Ruger-Scout-Rifle-308
>>
>>34133175
Up to you of course, I was looking at a Savage Scout myself, which is why I posted about it >>34133164 there. For $1500 you're looking at about $650 more than retail, so keep that in mind, and size up the value of the bits being sold with it. If you don't mind taking your time acquiring accessories like a scope and additional magazines, it would be short term cheaper, possibly long term too, to just buy it new and use irons.

also, I've only seen one anon post proof of an actual pre order, pretty sure most people are cautious at this point and doing the smart thing by holding off until we get evidence that they go into production in july as they're scheduled to.

I hear TI has fucked up a lot but their occasional updates/pics since their post a few months ago have been consistent with the progress expected to make that date.

would easily be the best new NR we've gotten in fucking years. wouldn't be saying that it Sig or CZ didn't fucking blow it with restricted barrels on their new 'pistols'.

I think the point is that TI specifically posted online at one point to tell the preorder crowd that they haven't received the rifles yet, but they got the new wooden furniture sets and they're looking great -- while they never got any new wood and basically just refinished the stock furniture on the old prototype rifle themselves to try and create the appearance of some progress on these rifles and keep the preorder hype going
>>
>>34136023
Oh yeah then that would be correct TI has always been a bunch of snake oil salesmen.

How long does it take to get your PAL? I'm planning on taking the safety course in a couple weeks.

My Canadian Tire has some SKS's in stock now but I can't buy one until I get the PAL
>>
>>34136251
There is a legal minimum of 28 days from the moment they receive your application (I suggest sending via registered mail, so you know when they get it). It takes usually a little while from them receiving it before it shows up in the online system (where you can track progress), usually a week or so. If you're in Ontario, the exam is sent to the CFO who then stamps it before it's sent back to you, at which point you send it to Miramichi. You might have to wait a month or two to get it back from the CFO.

I suggest having your references call in themselves instead of waiting to be called. Read the pastebin in the OP. It'll answer most questions you have.

The RCMP can get fucked. The "dual purpose" thing isn't anywhere in the law and there's no fucking way they can win in court by saying that magazines designed for a rifle in the 90's were actually designed for a pistol first made in 2007.

Wow, that's fucking lame. Also, it seems a tad presumptuous to assume CPC voters are pro-gun.

Believe it or not, but there are anti-gun CPC members/voters. They're not very good conservatives, that much is correct, but they do exist.

Pro-gun Liberals make sense, given the supposed centrist stance they espouse, but pro-gun NDP makes no sense given their authoritarian left leaning.

so is there a reason why i shouldnt get one of these? its NR and fucking bad ass
>>
>>34141707
1. It's overpriced.
2. Although it's NR, it can be very easily mistaken for R, so if you take it innawoods, a cop could give you a really hard time over it. Don't get me wrong, you would still be right, but it's just a waste of time every single time. On the other hand, if you go through this shit, then you can be a pioneer for early-NR-AR-lookalikes.
>>
>>34141741
the price doesnt bother me, its a high quality rifle its not like your buying it marked up 3k because its NR. apparently they ship with all the paperwork needed to show to a cop its actually NR so that doesnt bother me either, i literally dont see a reason to not anon. talk some sense into me anon lol.
>>
>>34141707
If I had the money I'd get the both the Hunter and the Varminter.

>>34141757
ATRS costs a lot because they have a high reputation to uphold. That also means your NR rifle probably won't like cheap ammo; high quality barrels and chambers made for the best accuracy will be very tight, as close to the bottom of the SAAMI spec tolerance for the caliber in question. So keep in mind the rifle will be expensive, and so will the ammo.

The rifle itself is going to be about as good as they come aside from the compromise of high accuracy for less ammo compatibility.

this, nothing beats having cool parents

mom likes firearm and will eventually get a PAL of her own, just too busy/not a priority and I can take her shooting as a guest to my range, which she takes advantage of and hogs .22 when we occasionally do go together.

haven't seen each other in a while, catching up over coffee. mom asks if I bought anything new recently in terms of firearms
>no
why not?
>uhh what? cause I've got bills and stuff. my Marlin .22 and SKS are fine
mom tells me she saw some sexy swat policemen with sexy black rifles with lots of jaggy surfaces, asks if civilians can own those in Canada
>sure, it's probably AR-15, explain what the rails are, tell her it's restricted like pistols, but I have the R license. tell her cops probably have theirs made by Colt Canada (just guessing since military ones are) and those are over 2k, but there are more affordable models just as good
well, yeah 2k is a bit much, why don't you get something cheaper but still good quality? let's make it a Canada Day thing! I'll pay half! But you will let me shoot it!
>look around, people in second cup are looking appalled and not even hiding that they're listening in (live in an uberliberal yuppie area of an uberliberal city)
>laugh and say it's a deal!
and that's how I bought my first AR

I'm seriously considering joining the military. I've never even held a gun but I'm in great shape (/fit/fag with no social life) Are any of you guys in the military? If so, can you tell me what it's like

Also, I live in BC, so I speak literally zero French. I do have a university degree (it's a shitty liberal arts one though so I know it won't apply to any military jobs)
>>
>>34144504
Its only benefit is free housing and food during training. If you can throw all your shit inna storage locker or your parents place while off in training. That alone makes the pay good. If you dont like it just quit after training. 3-9 months of free rent ans no food bills will help you get ahead in life.
>>
>>34144551
I have a bit of money saved up so that's not really an issue. i just have no fucking clue what to do.

I'm guessing from your post you wouldn't recommend joining? And is not knowing French a big deal? I know everyone has to do basic training in Quebec which made me think you need some French

Mine can use an ak dust cover(has one) akm trigger group(has one) ak pistol grip, ak mags, i could also put an ak rear sight base, gas block, gas tube, and front sight base and i can use an ak bolt and bolt carrier, the only thing you cant use is an al barrel cause valmet barrels are threaded it in, so id just need to get a 7.62x39 barrel made and i can use all the barrel components and x39 bolt, as well as furniture. Only milled valmets cant use most ak parts they can only use galil and other valmet parts, they can still use standard ak triggers and bolt carriers though

In the recent BC general election, I spoiled my ballot because I was unhappy with all the choices in my riding (Liberal, NDP, Green, CHP).

In this particular case, I actually should've voted Liberal.

So Im getting back pay from the army and want an AR but dont know what to get.

Ive looked at Daniel Defense, Colt Canada and POF, any pros and cons on those manufacturers?

Should I get a 1000$ AR and spend 1000$ on ammo instead? If so, what AR?
>>
>>34161191
>army guy doesn't know what AR to get
Thank you for your service.
>>
>>34161191
Norinco, then replace whatever you don't like, rest on ammo. The receiver is fine, and everything else can be replaced.
>>
>>34161255

A) Im a vehicle tech
B) I have little experience with ARs and dont want to fuck this up
>>
>>34161341
>Im a vehicle tech
So you were a service member who serviced service vehicles?
>>
>>34161191
if you want to ball out on gucci shit, DD > CC

if you don't want to spend $2500, buy a S&W M&P15, which are still like $700 all over the place and probably not for much longer
>>
>>34161387
yes, though these days its more like antique restorations than servicing.
>>
>>34161401
thanks, Ive been having trouble deciding between a CC MRR or some sort of DD with a similar set up
>>
Aside from the Luger, what gun should I buy in Canada if I want to LARP as a Nazi, particularly the SS?

Shooting full auto all day and enjoying some god tier ribs on a Sunday with no complaints, fucking perfect. I'm gonna need a fuck ton of ammo though.
>>
>>34161546

Im thinking 16"

Its gonna be a real long time before I get a second AR and 16" seems like it will work for whatever I want to do.

>>34161981

>>
>>34161981
Aside from the river valley, Edmonton is just worse version of Calgary. Still I'd take Edmonton over many of the major cities in Canada.
>>
>>34161981
Actually just wait until I get into belt feds. And mg42/mg53/mg3 Can be had for under 2500$ easily, I also intend on doing an sg43 and potentially a dskh in 50bmg cause apparently there's some parts kits for them floating around in the us
>>

People have. The big problem is those groups have limited funds while the Canadian Gestapo has unlimited funds (taxpayer money), an inventive and active propaganda arm, control of the media, and intimate knowledge and experience at manipulating & dragging out the Justice system.

The removal of the RCMP is our only hope, and fat chance that's going to happen for a very long time. Sometimes I think we need more Mayerthorpe and Monctons... but on a more organized and province wide scale to get the message across to those guys.
>>
>>34164890
Oops, "control of the media" isn't quite accurate, I meant to say 'partnership with the media.'
