Cutting edge prototypes using the most advanced gear at the time aren't "bubba".

That's an issued weapon you mongonaut.

The big lamp on top casts an infrared light, which is invisible to the naked eye, but clearly illuminates what you point it at if you look through the optic, it is a very early nightvision optic setup.

Since these early setups were heavy and had limited range, it was decided it would be fitted on a lightweight and short ranged M1/M2 Carbine.
These would be issued to sentries at night, and would with great success be used to detect and kill Japanese and Korean soldiers attempting stealthy night raids; they would have no idea that they had been spotted and would then have gunfire rained down on them in the dark of night.

Shut up bubbas, look at what your horrible mallninja tier shit did to this beautiful historic rifle here, that's a piece of american history right there and you've gone ahead and decimated it with useless add-ons.

I almost wouldn't have cared if it was just a 91/30, but his idea and execution is just so fucking retarded it upsets me anyway.

I'm glad this kind of shit is becoming less and less common.

>>34121448
It was designed in the 40's/50's for shooting gooks at night, it's called the M3 Carbine (which is in actuality a designation for an M1 or M2 Carbine with this kit installed, so some were select-fire and some werent).
>>
>>34121543
why are tripfaggots such retards
>>
>>34121259
Some ass walked into my gun store the other day and asked the owner if he had any K98s or mosins.
The owner said yes and showed him his mil slurp rack, the guy goes through and picks out the best condition ones and says he wants to buy those.
Owner says ok and makes some small talk and the guy says he refurbishes guns as a hobby.
The owner is interested and asks if he has pics of his work.
The guy shows him his before and after pics. The before was a beautiful k98 with the original finish and all german factory marks.
The after was a shit abortion with a synthetic stock, pic rail welded on to the barrel, a detachable box mag, and some tapco scope
The owner was horrified, denied the sale and asked him not to shop there again.

Door to door dictionary and encyclopedia salesmen need to make a come back. Every home needs a dictionary so fucking retards like him grow up knowing what fucking, "refurbish," means. Goddammit I wasn't pissed until I read that.

>>34122540
Upset but it's hard (impossible) to try and force a FFL to sell to you. He did leave and didn't get belligerent, just upset and mumbled shit talk as he walked out the door.

People pretty much stopped doing that once surplus stopped being imported and milsurp approached it's real market value, as well as good and competitively priced sporting rifles proper becomes increasingly common.

For example, Enfields aren't being imported these days, and .303 surplus is all but dried up, so you can't get a good old military rifle like that for super cheap these days and use it for actual utility like you used to, they've become expensive enough that they're more appealing for collectors and enthusiasts than anything.

People would alter, chop up and rebuild milsurp rifles because they and their ammo was super cheap, and technically, a good gunsmith *could* make a really pretty good specialized hunting rifle or target rifle using an Enfield as a base, and really be pretty cheap, that's the underlying thought.

But since it's 2017 and Enfields aren't $89:95 with 9mm tier ammo prices anymore, and a Ruger American is just as good if not better than an Enfield (standard, professionally sporterized, or bubba'd), people don't generally get the idea to do things like that anymore.

tl;dr unless this story is from 2008 you're probably making shit up, the era of bubba'd milsurp is effectively over.

>t. "Refurbisher"
Dang you got me, I go on the Internet and make up lies to impress people I don't know, will never meet, and aren't even sure are real people.
>>
>>34123002
I'm saying it happened because there was an economic incentive to do it, bubba happens because guns are cheap.

K98k aren't bargain bin items in 2017 and the amount of people who hack them up are increasingly uncommon.
Brown Bess muskets are milsurp but nobody had modified or sporterized one of those in over a century, sooner or later it hits a threshold were basically nobody will bother.

If you're telling me someone is hacking up genuine K98ks in 2017, with Waffenamts and all on them, in good condition, you're basically lying, they are too expensive for that to make sense even to a dumb hick or basement dweller.

I promise you that whoever did this >>34121490 never paid more than $100 for the rifle he frankensteined, because that was the going price for them back then and that's why he thought he could build a long range target rifle for a bargain.
>>
>>34122847
What's so horrible about that? That rifle will probably actually end up being used in battle instead of sitting in a closet somewhere only to occasionally be molested by the cheeto-dusted fingers of some neackbeard who somehow thinks he's racially superior to another human.
>>
>>34123181
90% This, you loose 10% for being nice to a nigger.
>>
>>34123181
This basically. I'd rather see guns being put to use than rotting away in the basement of a greasy wehraboo because he thinks he'll get to fight a race war before he drops dead from a heart attack at 35.

>>34122802

I hate to disappoint you but I don't have any footage of it in operation. Gen.0 night vision has a really short tube life, especially earlier units. It would be hard to find an original, working example to film.

>Were they green in color just like gen 1+?
I once let an old vet mess around with one of my NSP-3 scopes, he likened it to an improved version of the carbine scope that he carried. I assume that the sight picture is very similar (grainy, green).
