Curious if anyone here has an opinion on this Kimber? Debating if I should get this or a good AK47. Note: it is chambered in .45, and I already have a Colt 1911 Lightweight Government. Thoughts on what I should do?

Get a good AK, you already have a 1911 and from what I've heard, Kimbers aren't as good as they were back in the day, so you're basically buying it for the name.

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any recommendations on a good AK platform in this price range, from $800 to $1000? Ive beeb looking at Cmthe RAS47, but reviews seem very mixed on it.

Oh I get it. It's a bait thread where you name guns you know have problems or bad QC and say your thinking about buying them.

Why would you recommend something not even close to what he asked for?

Not trying to b8 m8. Just in a honest situation where I'm tempted to buy a 2nd 1911, or go for a platform I don't own like an AK47. I haven't heard anything bad about Kimbers before, but I assume that's because they either own them, or it's a name brand thing. I really like the option of the threaded barrel, underbarrel rail, and tritium sights, 3 things my Colt does not offer. I coinsidered selling my Colt for this gun, but it was my first pistol, so it's hard for me to let go, as I'm sure you understand.

If you do want a 1911 with those features I'd suggest a SIG tacops. I've considered buying one of those before I bought my P30. The slide is nonstandard so it won't fit in a normal 1911 holster. I may pick one up in the future but my next handgun purchase will probably a mark 23.

I forgot to mention, when it comes to AKs get an Arsenal and stay away from Century and IO. Save up if you have to, don't settle for something that might have problems when a decent one is a couple hundred dollars away.

That's funny that you metion an Arsenal AK because the shop the Kimber is at he just got an Arsenal AK in today, and it did feel like good quality. It was 50 dollars less than the Kimber, so I may take your advice and go for that and use the extra 50 bucks for some magpul furniture for it.

Leave the stock alone, it folds. Replace the handguard and pistol grip if you want, I guess.

There are too many good 1911s on the market to spend money on a Kimber now. If they fixed their QC I still haven't seen the evidence.
Who makes a good 1911 for under $800?

RIA or used, avoid Remingtons. I hear Norincos are solid but eeeeeh I don't even like their shotguns and those are hard to ruin
