You can try and pretend that the USSR actually saved the day and was the major force in defeating Nazi Germany, but the fact is they were rescued in the nick of time by Lend Lease charity. American factories were supplying the war on all fronts in Europe, in the Atlantic, and especially in the Pacific where the USN and USMC pretty much did the majority of the fighting. We devoted a fucking boatload of resources just to *save* allied forces from utter destruction, and all the while we're supplying every rebel group within our reach.

You might be able to claim that we didn't win the war in WWI but an allied victory in WWII was abso-fucking-lutely, without a doubt, our doing.

Oh, and about education. It isn't standardized here to that extent. I'm sure some have learned the bare minimum, but I learned about the British Empire, I even learned about the short-lived German Empire and it's tiny colonies like Nauru. (name me a fucking kid who can point that on a map)
