Okay, I've been lurking for years, and by the end of this summer I am going to have a sweet wad of cash to spend (~$2000). The news has me pretty scared, so I am ready to buy a handgun, and some type of pdw. My family is hasguns but I just turned 21 so reasonably, I am right now noguns.

For the handgun I am thinking a 1911. Just not sure which model and I am looking for recommendations. I don't know where to start for this pdw-esque weapon I have in mind, I am thinking a mini-14 and I would go for the m1a but it put's me out of budget. Maybe I could go for an SBR? or one of those pistol-rifle fuckin weird things? Thoughts on this?

Just buy a bolt action, self defense is bad.
>>
>>34116715
2000? If this is your first handgat don't get a shit antiquated design. I would suggest a 9mm sig or CZ 75. hogher capacity, better designs (i.e. not 100 years old) you can even get them both in
.45 if you want. After that you can buy all the 1911s you want.

>cz75
>not a shit antiquated design that breaks slide stops

>>34116715
You need to figure out how much you want to actually spend on the 1911 itself, there's a make and model of 1911 to fit literally every budget.
>>
>>34116715
IF I were in your shoes with a budget of $2000 I would buy
1) a Glock 19
2) an AR carbine
https://www.deguns.net/DPMS-Oracle-5-56-AR15-60531-dpms-oracle-for-sale-p/60531.htm
3) remaining for a shotgun, rem870 or mossberg 890.

Your budget should be enough.

can you provide me some examples of a low end vs a high end? What is the most common or popular model ppl buy?
>>
I don't wanna start my own thread for this ask, but is there any "approved" way to inspect an unloaded weapon in a gun store?

I'm not joking, I've avoided purchasing a weapon for home defense because I don't wanna look like a sperg, or pull the trigger on an empty chamber when you're not supposed to do that, or if you are, you have to aim down at a 45 degree angle and 90 degrees left of the man behind the counter
>or some goofy rule like that

Rifle/intermediate caliber pistols are cool toys but I would get something with a real stock as a rifle. Consider a PTR or AR to leave some dosh left over for ammo or an optic. M14 clones are sexy but horribly overpriced for what they are.

1911s are good guns but I don't know enough to help you on that, I'm a Glock/Beretta fag.

You have good taste but we will need to know more to narrow it down.

>The news has me pretty scared
Shit will not be hitting the fan anytime soon. The news you worry about is a lot of sound and fury. If you really are worried about instability you are better off with marketable skills and enough money to make things happen; any collapse in the near future will be economic and not social.
>>
>>34116838
A low end is a rock island armory and similar Philippine made 1911s, about 450 bucks new. They usually work but aren't anything to write home about.

A truly high end 1911 starts at Les Baer and is 2000+

High end of mass production is Dan Wesson which you can get one of their cheaper models for ~1200.

If you are limited to 1000 and under I would recommend Colt, Sig, or Smith and Wesson, Springfield used to be here but I cannot recommend a company that straight up sold the rights of people living in Illinois. Kimber specifically should be avoided, they use MIM parts and are terrible at it.

>Glawk/Berreta Fag

Is it even possible to like both? I despise glawks but I fucking love Berretas
>>

Economic collapse leads to starvation and starvation leads to people killing for food.
While I agree that there's no need to actually be worried, to say economic collapse only leads to "lol find a job bro" is just stupidity.

Pistol: Beretta FS92
Shotty: Mossberg 500
Rifle: PSA AR-15

Or spend $2,000 on a badass rifle like pic related and save up for a cheap pistol and shotty later (M14 EBR for those wondering)

Sage ebr stocks are going to cost the majority of a 2k budget and any m14 clone under 2k isn't worth anybody's time. Even a *good* m14 is a sub par battle rifle and is only around because of Vietnam veterans spouting about that guy they knew from another unit that maybe had a malfunctioning m16.

Same boat. I love nearly all Berettas. I only own a Glock 30 because of Cowboy Bebop.
>>
>>34117083
1100 out of 2000 is a majority
Still doesn't address the fact that no good m14 exists under 2k.

DON'T buy a 1911.

Get a cz p10c or g19 for your pistol

and an ar15 or slr-107r for your rifle

Just don't point the thing at anybody. You can rack the slide, insert magazine, etc. I wouldn't dry fire the thing without asking though. Even though it's fine on pretty much all modern striker pistols and revolvers some gun store employees can get fussy. Never experienced this myself but I can imagine it happening.

I was thinking of getting a Glock 30 for the same reason. Are they actually enjoyable to shoot, considering they're pocket 45s?

It's not horrible. With the extendo magazines that come with it, it's almost identical dimensions to a Glock 19, just thicker.
