That is actually genius.
low cost and effective.
can easily be mass produced and will wreck armor by bashing with the base of the spike and piercing gaps in the armor with that strong spike.

Perhaps I badly wrote my point, Swiss were relevant during the 15th century and that's about it, past Marignano, you don't here much from them.
So the swiss sabre being used by the swiss for 250 years (!) is kinda irrelevant since it came of use at the end of the swiss peak.

It is like you are really bad in history and try to prove it post for post.
The Swiss where rampaging for the French as mercenaries during the 16th century, They provided the main body of infantry for the French army during that century and fought all their Italian campaigns and religious wars. They where literally the Gurkha's of the early modern and likely the most belligerent society at the time.

"Uruks" is just human colloquial shortening of Uruk-hai, used to mean "big orc".

Moving goalposts hard? Like they Katana the Swiss Saber was a ethno-typical weapon of a specific culture and region.

>Never heard of that. Source or it didn't happen.
Sure, I can recommend this article by Jürg A. Meyer for a quick introduction into the history of the Swiss Saber
https://www.yumpu.com/de/document/view/21925203/jahrheft-2012-ritterhaus-bubikon/7

For further details please read the standard work on Swiss weapons by Hugo Schneider.
www.e-periodica.ch/cntmng?var=true&pid=zak-003:1959:16::478

>Not even a german wiki page
wiki is for plebs.

>Inb4 swiss sabres that are not actually two handed.
You know, weapons do adapt to changing warfare, and the evolution of firearms made large two handed swords cumbersome in the field. Thats why a distinct one handed type of Swiss sabre evolved.

pic related, Schnepf (thats what a swiss saber is called originally= dated to 1604

It was a niche weapon and something of a status symbol.

Also lol at that part:
"Since people have taken to carry swords more appropriate for war than for the city, and commonly maim others in their disputes, such weapons of murder have been forbidden to carry in the city and only the rapier as seemly and common weapon for civilians been allowed."

keep in mind thats a small collection, the Schnepf was a popular design at its time and you will find large numbers in every swiss weapons collection and museum.
I think they faded out of fashion during the time of Louis XIV and his new army regulations.
Swiss dragoons however used the Schnepf for quite some time longer and examples used at the Villmergen war in the 18th century are known. Thats about the time when swords fade into a niche product themselves.

And once again, just because Switzerland is small doesn't make it a niche weapon, its use was widespread in all the southern Germanic areas.

pic is a late type 18th century form.
