>Germany focused too much on more powerful but less numerous tanks, they should've produced larger numbers of weaker tanks
>Germany suffered from a shortage of qualified tank crews
So which is it?
>>
>>34111047
Those are not mutually exclusive qualities, faggot.

>See: USSR, 1941
>>
>>34111047
You can still put a so-called 'unqualified' crew in a tank and have them do something.

You can't put that same crew in a tank that doesn't exist.

How do you think the Soviets gained an armor advantage? It's because they had a shitload of T-34s. Do you honestly think that those were all super qualified heat seeking laser guided bionic crew members that had 2,000 hours of training downloaded to their memory banks? They weren't. They were what I imagine you would call 'unqualified'.
>>
>>34111047
>there can be no happy medium
>>
>experience tank shortage
>bitch that tank crews that have no tanks aren't qualified
Really makes you think.
>>
>>34111047

Germany built several different types of tank that had little or no parts compatibility, required separate manufacturing plants, fired different ammunition and required specially trained maintenance crew to service each model. Their late war designs were really advanced for their time but were such a logistical nightmare that they could never have changed the outcome of the war.

The USSR produced a fucking lot of T-34s. They shared the same ammo, used the same parts, burned the same fuel and a crew member from one could serve just as well in the next tank to his left as his own.

Everything past the Tiger was a more and more unfeasible leap. Their designs were being pushed out the door into mass production before they were even out of the prototype stage.
>>
>>34111047
They made like 10 different tank designs instead of making one that was really good, they copied a lot of things from the T-34 too.
>>
>>34111047

Fucking Tankies. Winter beat us not Soviets
>>
>>34112237

>Let's invade this nation which is famous for being extremely cold and muddy, and let's do it in the winter, when both coldness and muddiness will be at maximum, and let's do it without even bothering to issue winter jackets to our soldiers. This is a brilliant plan and I am proud to be a part of it.
>>
>>34112275
>let's do it in the winter

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Barbarossa
>Operation Barbarossa (German: Unternehmen Barbarossa) was the code name for Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II, which was launched on Sunday 22 June 1941.

didn't know soviet russia was in the southern hemisphere

They made almost as many Panthers as they made Pzkpfw Vs, it's a shame that they were so unreliable.
>>
>>34112237
>Us
Go back to /pol/. German wunderarmor was famously unreliable, and no tank runs without fuel, and no decent parts are made with subpar materials.
>>
they built ~30% more pz.kpfw.iv than panthers. for germany industry, it wasn't really all that close
>>
>>34111047
Germany needed more tanks and tank crews is the answer you're looking for.
>>
>>34111386
You don't know the half of it. During it's production run, WaffenAmt made ~400 discreet changes to the Tiger 1, on an almost bi-weekly basis. If you do the math, that makes about every 3 tigers subtly different as they roll of the production line. In fact, they specifically forbid the practice of assembly line production because it "Wasn't flexible enough."
It's not that Germany lacked the production muscle of their eastern neighbors, they were just retarded about it.
>>
>>34112237
>le epik general winter meme
The fact of the matter is that Germany's reserves were depleted by October. The war was winnable, but only if serious changes to the Wermacht's recruiting and orginization were made in the years leading up to Barbarossa.
>>
As cool as the Tiger was, it should have never been produced.

>Keep churning out StuGs and Pz IVs
>Develop the Panther and fix all the fucking problems this time

Now you have a pretty good tank that can do almost everything without being a logistical nightmare.
>>
>>34111047
krauts should have consolidated on designs necessary to doctrinal demands and cut the fat of their R&D on everything but simplifying and upgrading existing designs by 1940

hindsight is 20/20 and all

Meanwhile, the Allies were mass-producing Pershings, IS2s, T34/85s, and even the bongs would have started using Centurions if the war had gone on any longer.
>>
>>34115258
>Meanwhile, the Allies were mass-producing Pershings, IS2s, T34/85s

The U.S. only had two Pershing's in Europe at the time. There were still more T34's than IS-2's. Most T34's were still 1943 models with better 76mm ammo against German medium tanks. This was all after the factories in Dresden were bombed multiple times.
>>
>>34111047
both nigga

Germany was fucked either way but they still managed to chose the stupid option - they had neither the technology, the brains, nor the material to build an effective force multiplier

>HEY GUYS I KNOW THE ROADS GET REALLY MUDDY IN WINTER SO HERE'S MY PLAN WE'RE GOING TO STEAL THE RUSSIAN RAILWAYS
>I know they operate on an entirely different loading gauge to us so no German trains can use soviet rail but that's fine, our wunderwaffe blitzkrieg will just capture all the soviet trains!
>What, it's not like trains move or anything! We'll capture them easily!
>this is a COMPETENTLY THOUGHT OUT PLAN!

In WWII no matter how badly a Russian tank was shot up its repairs were faster than building a new tank so as the Germans retreated the Russian forces rebuilt thousands of destroyed tanks. The Germans couldn't

They were about to build a nuke before the Jew Oppenheimer stole the program and gave the heavy water plant location to the Americans

I don't understand : Germany had great success with the Biltzkrieg using fast tanks to seize strategic objectives. Then they fell for the Heavy Tank meme and within three years there was a portrait of Stalin on the Brandenburg Gate.

In multiple factories during Stalingrad the workers who actually built the tank on the lineup went to crew it. Gave them some incentive to build it better too.

He's an idiot, 20 is the initial Zebra trial, by V-E day 500 had made their way to Europe but were still in the middle of training the crews how to drive their new tanks.
>>
>>34111047
Both you fucking idiot. They needer more tanks, not more expensive ones, and still didn't have enough experienced (not just merely trained) crews for the ones they had in the late-war.
