Not to mention there aren't really any new bullpup designs coming out. They're all legacy designs just getting updates like the EF-88 or the gun in the OP. AR's will be the world's most produced and issued weapon for the forseeable future.

That's not a bad thing either.
Making another gas-piston assault rifle is just variations on the same thing, so refinement via revisions and upgrades tends to produce more reliable, easier to use platforms over time. Which is basically what you want- something the average grunt can pick up, shoot with enough competency on minimal training and have faith it'll keep working well enough to get the job done. Everything else is mostly sales memes, dick waving competitions and other shite.

however i have been wondering what the benefit of a traditional type rifle over a bullpup would be and vice versa. i know that a bullpup is shorter, but i see a lot of people that seem to majorly dislike bullpups and i dont understand why

Its a limiting design choice regarding ejection, sight radius and length of pull, for the gain of a few inches of extra barrel length that simply isn't that valuable to an average infantryman. They also tend to have shit triggers, simply as a byproduct of their action. There are designs that have addressed all of these issues individually (F2000 and a couple of others have forward or downwards ejection, VHS has an adjustable stock, Tavors have decent aftermarket triggers, etc.), so its not like bullpups HAVE to be lame, its just that no design has yet integrated all of them together. Until that's done, bullpups will always be second best to a decent AR, a notion that bullpup enthusiasts find a bit triggering because of the perception that ARs are "boring".
