Why is it so hard to find a cheap 357 lever action?

One that has a loading gate, preferably stainless?

I must have checked 50 websites this weekend. All out of stock
>>
>>34109901
Idk OP but join the club. I like my .30-30 Winchester but if I can grab a decent .357 I'll probably sell it for a bolt gun.
>>
>>34109901
just buy a non-stainless rossi

its 500 bux

Quads checked. I didn't see any Rossi's in 357 either
>>
>>34110106
In demand and no new supply besides Henry and occasionally Rossi
>>
>>34109901
Because 30/30 is better.

So Marlin, Winchester and Rossi just stopped making them?
>>
>>34109901
They've gone up since Marlin stopped making them shortly after Remington bought them. They've said recently that they should be hitting shelves again sometime this year (or within a year I forget).

So, a new one would be like $460 I guess. Maybe used ones will go down once they hit and you can find a good deal.
>>
Bump for cowboy funs
>>
>>34109901
yeah i bought a Henry big boy new, it was quite the expense. Although I really like it.
>>
>>34109901
OP WTF are you me?
I was just looking and thinking the same thing.

I want a gate loading .357 lever action
>>
marlin said they were starting production on them in november of 2016 but the customer service lady (that told me that) didn't sound very confident in that schedule.
>>
>>34109901
I know this pain x5, since I live in euroland.
>>
>>34110209
Marlin stopped with rumors of a restart, rossi cannot keep up, Winchester is beyond the op price point and henry is everywhere without a loading gate so for a lot of us yes they essentially did
>>
>>34109901
TL;DR - Marlin's not making one anymore, and the alternative all suck for various reasons.

What I heard is that Marlin is in the process of unfucking it's shit and decided to reduce it's product line to ease production. That meant making only the .44 version of the 1894 at the expense of the .357 version (1894C).

That leaves Rossi and Henry as the relatively affordable alternatives, both of which such for different reasons (Henry=Heavy and no gate, Rossi=No Optics).

The used market for 1894C's is insance, and the quality alternatives like the Uberti 1873 are also overpriced, and suffer from less adaptability than the 1894s.
>>
>>34109901
There's like 11 on armslist, try looking there and maybe you could score a sweet deal
>>
>>34115450
This should really be a standard response

Does Rossi make any 357 or 44 that don't have a 24" barrel? Because I'm pretty sure you start losing velocity at that point
>>
>>34109901
Drop the loading gate autism and get a henry
>>
>>34116648

Why is it autism?
>>
>>34116678
I would more call it nitpicking. Yes it would be nice to have a loading gate and ability to mount a scope if you are into that but for sub 1k for a rifle that screams NY/CA ban compliant fun it is a small underdeveloped market that isn't immediately profitable. So Henry is the available does most model that can actually be found (especially when internet ordering is not an option) and if that is still the case after I buy a house in a year or two then Henry it is
>>
Why haven't you looked in your LGS or LPS?

I've never had to buy a gun online
>>
>>34117392
I will say that any lgs lps on the I95 to 87 corridor from Baltimore to Albany does not have them or will sell them very shortly. Haven't checked Vermont or New Hampshire but Maine had similar issues. I will check stuff out when I roll by anyway but not looking to make too many extra trips

OP here. I actually did go to my local gun store, but they didn't have it.

Can anybody with a Henry comment on how they like it?
>>
>>34117561
I have a Henry in .22 and it's the straightest shooter I have.

Action is smooth as fuck and it's a dream to shoot.
>>
>>34116678
For all practical purposes the loading gate isn't necessary. Henry's are 10+1. Most people use them for range/hunting, no need to top off the tube. I would rather have 10+1 in a gun I can trust than whatever marlin/Rossi have in a gun that has a loading gate but might fuck up on you any second.
>>
>>34117593
And not to mention that you can go buy pvc pipes and load them up with ammo so that when you need to reload your henry rifle you can just pop open the loading tube and pour down the rounds and pop back the loading tube back in and your already reloaded and ready to go which sounds faster than a side loading gate.
>>
>>34118410
Bullshit it's faster with a loading gate
>>
>>34119369
Either way we are talking special olympics tier reload speeds
>>
>>34110805
Yeah, there were some serious problems after Remington took over, and actually probably a year before, when the factory workers all found out their jobs were over and would be sent to a new plant out of state. Fit and finish on the "Remlins" was genuinely shit, and QC was just about nonexistent.
>>
>>34115450
They had to retool around 2013-2014 to make the 1894 again since the old machines were at the ragged edge, so it's likely the same story for the 1894c. If it's as bad as it was made to sound the practically had to reverse engineer it
>>
>>34117593
>For all practical purposes the loading gate isn't necessary.

Neither are autoloaders with detachable mags, but that isn't the point and nobody wants to nigger-rig pvc pipes

>>34109901
well op, its a doggie dog world where lever actions are a diamond dozen but if you can see between the paragraphs there's literally a gold mind of options available
>>
>>34109901
Keep looking around, go to some 3d stores as well. I paid $425 -- tax included -- on my Henry .357 that I found on the used gun rack at Cabela's.
>>
>>34109901
Where can I get a rifle like this? It looks like Winchester Model 1886 but fully customize
>>
>>34125421

Look up Mare's Leg.
>>
>>34121446

That sounds pretty /k/ though
