It IS just an "ok" rifle, doesn't mean I hate it, and I never limited myself to ww2. I just said it was from that era.
It could have been the pinnacle of gun technology then, I don't care, it's pretty forgettable by today's standards.
When I think of the m1 action and "decent" in the same sentence, I think of something more like >>34102137 after they'd tossed out the en-bloc clips for mags, and chambered it in 308 which isn't so ungodly long like 30-06.
>>
>>34099453
So does Walmart.
>>
>>34099367
It does, it just isn't removable.
>>
>>34102224
Fair enough, they were still pretty "cutting edge" for the day. I still enjoy shooting mine but concede to your points.
>>
>>34102411
It's the same story with my sks. I love the thing to death, but I have to concede that the vz58 does everything better and offers some of my favorite features of it in a lot of ways.
>>
Heck of a shotgun
>>
Gonna post this in QTDDTOT too.

How are the quality of any M84 reproduction scopes? I don't want to pay $1000 for a vintage scope thats probably beat to shit.

Also, I bought a grenade launcher that has a post that's too fat to fit into the slot on the gas plug. Should I grind the post on the grenade launcher or should the slot in the gas plug to make it fit?
>>
>>34102224
Fanboys will try to talk shit but you're right. The m1 is a good gun, but ultimately the reason why it was successful is not the gun itself, but the context in which it was deployed. It was the first mass issued semi-auto rifle, and back then it did make a difference, troops loved it. The truly special thing about the m1 is the fact that the US was able to field it, it's the US manufacturing capability that's truly to thank for the gun's legacy, not the gun itself.
>>
>>34102106
SVT-40. That's not to say that the Garand isn't a good rifle.

A couple of classics, although really only one qualifies. Classic style anyway.

What they needed to do was fix that fucking hole in the side of the gun and use the Johnsons magazine design somehow.

Alternatively, we should have just bit the bullet and adopted the fuckin' ZH-29.

I wanted to buy a bm59 so badly, but they had to import those vepr-fm 308 rifles at the same time and I could only buy one.
Oh well, I'll get one one of these days.
>>
>>34107351
I like mine a lot. The only issue is the snowflake mags. If you can live with the fact that you'll probably only ever have 2 or 3 mags for it I'd totally recommend picking one up.

Is this weapon as expensive as it is just because of its coolness? Everyone here usually seems to range from it sucks (just poorfags?) to its okay but not near worth the price.
