Hey all I've been slowly build a precision rifle with some you tube videos and magpul stuff.
I started with a old rem 700 rifle in 308. $300
Primary arms scope 4x14ffp $250.
Magpul stock $250.
Rem spa barrel. $180 not one yet.
BI pod adpator. 22.00
Weaver rails and rings. 30
Just need to replace the trigger and change the barrel.

Ehh I'd never try to build my own flamethrower for fear of pic related. I'd much rather just buy something that I know will work instead.
>>34097624
I think you know the correct answer.
>>34097681
you're right. im going to have to, its just calling to me
>>34097663
the first time I test it I plan on wearing fire resistant coveralls/gloves/balaclava and googles along with 3 people there with fire extinguishers so I hopefully dont die
>>34097690
Do one better and build a cheap frame out of 2x4s and pull the trigger with a string.
So this is a flame thrower thread now very well lol.

Not sure what you were expecting, you seem to have your ducks in a row with your rifle.
Flamethrower general? Flamethrower general.

My Remington 700 has the stock barrel and shoots 2 in groups at 600 yards strapped into a lead sled. That being said I had to find the ammo that my barrel liked. Look up barrel harmonics it's the vibrations of the barrel as the round is traveling through it. The weight of the projectile and the speed all matter in groups. At 100 yards with hornady American 150 grain I cut the original hole. But with Winchester 150 grain I shoot a 2.5 in group so make sure your rifle barrel likes the ammo first. When you find an ammo it likes just remember that your rifle can out shoot you. Meaning that if you don't shoot good groups put the rifle in a lead slead and see the true grouping with no human error.
The most improvement you can make is to you as the shooter. Then bedding and a decent scope.
Bipods are retarded so forget about that.
Trigger is usually fine on the rem 7.
Honestly it's all about ammo if you want precision and if your half way serious you will have to load a lot as you will need to start your own ballistics file. Also get on ballistics research, the voice of sanity amongst the rabid funds/military/modern shooters.

What made you buy this scope in particular?

Why are bipods retarded?
You don't know remington 700s from a hole in your head if you think xmark pro triggers are 'fine'... They are god awful triggers. That's precisely why there is such a huge aftermarket for rem700 triggers.
The trigger and the stocks are usually the weak links. the action and barrels are what's good to go.

Not him, but I've heard that sandbags are better for bench shooting and bipods are better for prone. Rigid goes on soft, so either barrel on a bag or a bipod on dirt/grass. Not sure if it's fuddlore. I still prefer my bipod since it's one less thing to haul around.

>Why are bipods retarded?
They can reverberate the rifle harmonics if they're not anchored right, you're better off with a sandbag.
>>34097854
Whats the thing on top of the barrel that looks like paper?
>>34100520
Keeps the barrel from throwing mirage up in front of the scope.
>>34100520
It's called a mirage shield I only use it when at the range

I completely agree here the triggers are awful I dropped a timney straight trigger in it and it is set to a pound but the best thing about it is there is absolutely zero creep and it was only about $125
