What was/is your service rifle, /k/?
What do you think of it?
>>34096658
M4
t'sall right
>>34096658
The stock was milspec and the buffer tube comspec, or the other way around. Anyways, it was a little wobbly. Monolithic uppers are nice, but I'd rather have MLOK or even Keymod than a full-length permanent rail. Shit's just uncomfortable.
Grippods are rad though.
>>34096670
That rifle...
It's like they played a video game to design it.
>>34096670
Commercial buffer tubes are thicker due to lower quality polymer. It needs to be thicker to compensate for the lack of strength. You most likely had a milspec sized buffer tube with a commercial butt stock, which would result in what you're describing.
I learned this the hard way by having the opposite problem, resulting in a butt stock that barely was able to be moved at all.

M16 carbine (Israeli).
With old mags it was a jamomatic piece of shit, with new ones it ran like a dream.
Despite all the shit the A2 gets I actually really liked it.
>>34097245
I got to shoot a fixed carry-handle C7 a long while back. Definately enjoyable, and also much lighter than the new C7NLD.
>>34096670
>Grip that turns into a bipod
>deploy legs and use it them as a longer, shittier grip
What the fuck is he doing

used the '85 for 12 years now.
Never even seen one jam.
Solid as a rock, seen one take a hit from an IED, bend round the curvature of the blokes armour, and was still a shooter. Didn't shoot quite straight. the UGL was fucked though.
Excellent for riot duty in iraq and Northern ireland, great to use as a club, for bayonet fighting its somewhat awkward compared to an AR.
Its not heavy, as 2/3rds of the weight is in your shoulder.
The Sling is by far the best I've ever used or seen.
the ammo used (radway green) is fantastic.
The accuracy is excellent, with an elcan spectre you can easily get hits out at 600m.
the LSW AKA "the crow canon" was useful at harrassing fire and i saw blokes get hits at 800m, but at those ranges a 556 may as well be an air rifle.

Hk416, 16" then 10", loved both, never had a failure with them. Ez to clean, even in the field. Disliked the trigger, kinda heavy, but got used to it.
M16A4. You either got a jam-o-matic or a work horse, no in between. I'm guessing that was because all of the prior use and abuse they'd faced. First half of my contract I used the SAW anyways.
M4A2
Six digit serno thing was probably almost as old as I was
Ran it wet and never had a jam

zero malfs, breddy accurate, 3 round burst is useless. 8/10

I fookin luved it.
U.S. Army, 1AD 2003-2006.
>>34096658
It was nice, but too heavy and maybe too long, the 553 would be better
SCAR L just replaces the good old FN FNC
its okay

why can I never find britbong defense contractor produced surplus ammo innastates? is it illegal for radway green to export?
>>34097632
Do you rate being in the army? I want to join the paras or the marines as an officer after uni.
>>34098090
FNC parts kits when or are they gonna sell them to 3rd worlders and terrorists in the middle east?
Gripods looks straight up nerf teir
>>34098104
They are giving them to police officers for street patrol in big cities i shit you not
>>34097632
Did you use battle belts or stick most of your stuff on your PC while you served?
>>34096658
>AKM
pic related
>>34098094
Could just be that their contracts are lucrative enough to not really have to care about commercial exporting.
>>34098128
Haven't your cops already had them though?
>>34098094
I believe the radway green only produces ammo for the Uk and its allies
Its a shame because its good shit, and marketed properly you could get the sales up and demand up to the point where its cheaper than lapua.
>>34098098
I'll give you the truth, the money is shite, the pension is fucking awful, its only a benefit if you join as a rupert, but please don't
As stupid as it sounds and as much as it pains me, join the navy, they're actually looking to expand.
>>34098180
PLCE/ molle belt. Reason being you could get lower to the ground.
The only things i had on my osprey was a commanders pouch a SERPA sidearm holster for my sig, quick 556 pouch, multi tool, glowstick, pens, paper and a map.
On the battle belt i had 6 no. 556 pouches (2 double stack one single), pistol pouches on the single stack, two utilty pouches, one with an extra bottle of water, the other was mission specific, and my med pouch, and a bum pouch full of survival gear.
I also carried a dropleg molle dump pouch with on my left with an additional 2 mags of 556, maybe a smoke or a frag.
>>34098098
Not him but if you want to have a snowballs chance in hell of getting in to either you need to be in horrendously good shape.
If you arent already, incorporate long slow runs, quick paced short runs and HIIT/hill sprints into your workout, and you want to be able to smash the required run time which is 9:30, so to be competitive you want to be at least around 9 flat. I know just for marine candidate selection you need to run 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes, then you get a 1 minute break, and then you have to do another 1.5 this time in under 10 minutes.
Also a shit ton of push ups, pull ups and sit ups, probably wouldnt hurt to be able to deadlift, squat and benchpress your own weight for at least 10 reps. The less effort it takes to throw yourself around the easier it will be.
If you do get in and make it through training, youll be part of one of the best boys clubs about, but if it isnt a waking obsession then you probably wont make it. 30 odd weeks is a long time to put up with bullshit.
>>34098276
Sounds about right.
>>34097737
Agree. I said mine jammed ALL THE FUCKING TIME and got laughed at by a bunch of /arg/ safe queens. It's accurate though, could get hits consistently @ 500M with M855.
>>34098233
>SERPA sidearm holster for my sig
Sig? I thought bongs all used Glocks? Granted my only experience with them is 1 and 2 Rifles and Scots.
>>34097610
>>34097648
All fecal posting aside, didn't the krauts fix pretty much anything wrong with it and RIFLE IS FINE now?
>>34098367
Glocks only came through en masse in the past few years to my knowledge, not that bloke
>>34098371
Yeah the A2 works pretty well, does its job and is as accurate as you can expect out of a service rifle.
>>34098367
before the glock came in '13 we mostly has sig 226s and hi powers, my unit was trialed with glocks out in herrick 19, and my old boy (being brass) did some of the acquisition work.
i quite liked the sigs, and even the brownings too. The problem was the brownings were worn to shit, and the mags were so shite we had to buy our own.
>>34098233
Cool, thanks for the detailed answer
>>34096658
Disgusting m4/m16 hybrid from fucking 1970
It jams like it's nobody's business.
>Cartridge in the barrel and two rounds in the chamber all at the same time
Can't wait to finish training, go to a different base, and get a decent gun.
>>34099483
Lies of a cuckold. AR-15 is THE ultimate combat weapon system, used by THE Operators worldwide. It DOES NOT JAM.
>>34097225
Another IDFag reporting in. Where are/did you serve?
I carried pic related in the last 4 monthes of my service, but before that I had a 10.5"er colt carbine. The M4 was alright, but the 10.5" was alot comfier to carry around for obvious reasons.
>>34098087

Luckily I have read the sticky on /fit/ and I have gotten pretty fit over the past couple years. I see in a lot of photos that a lot of paras look pretty dyel but its probably because of all the cardio.

(Let explain the gas chamber. The entire point is to inspire confidence in your equipment. To show you that you can survive a chemical or nuclear attack. More than half of my platoon had ripped or damaged gas masks that didn't work for shit. We all choked half to death and then had to do rifle equal.)

I like it, although I'd prefer the modern variants with better optics and stock.
>>34096658
M249. When I got it, it was mostly slick like pic related, but with the railed feed tray cover. I had to watch it evolve into the monstrosity it is today, bristling with rails that never get used and given new stocks that make it harder to use iron sights with each new variant. I now hate what it's become.
