I'm thinking of going with the Bersa Thunder Combat Plus

I'm going to want ammo that's cheap enough to practice with, with low enough recoil for someone who's handled rifles but never owned a pistol, with single/double action so I can get reduced trigger weight on the first shot and deter with sound somewhat like a shotgun pump, decent sights and a print pattern along the grip rather than along the barrel (I carry tools a lot so a horizontal print is less conspicuous to those in my relatively crime-free surroundings)

Is this a good choice for a first home defense/possible carry/glove box gun?

straight blowback and an alloy frame are going to negate most of the recoil benefit of .380.

I also personally don't trust bersas enough to
trust my life to one, heard and seen too many bad things.
For the price the doublestack bersas are going you could get an arguably better gun.
In the end you could do worse, but you could do better.

Your same logic could be applied to most the women we date.

Sure.

You could also try getting a Bulgarian Makarov. Classic Firearms still has them in stock for $300.

9x18 is also generally cheaper than .380 online.

So.... what are my options in a relatively smalll, moderate capacity, with a good trigger or single action option, with a short barrel pistol?

>>34096333

Thanks, I kinda wanted .380 for the slightly hotter loads available but for utilitarian use I think I'm gonna go with the slavaboo round

>aka OP here

I was asking about the Combat Plus AKA the doublestack version
>>
>>34096347
I've heard good things about Bersa Thunders, but the Makarov is a much better made pistol.

If you get one, I recommend getting Underwood's load for self-defense.

But 9x18 generally runs hotter then .380, anon.
Unless there's some krazy buffalo bore .380 out there and even if there was you couldn't pay me to shoot 500 rounds of it out of a bersa.
and I say this as someone who is seriously considering picking up an old bersa as a glovebox gun and knockabout

So basically you're saying I should forget the memes and learn to love CHEEKIBREEKI

But how are the triggers on makarovs?

Don't listen to this fag, OP. Bersa's are awesome and I don't know what problems this guy is talking about. I've had my Firestorm for two years now no problems at all. I've also seen a decent amount of people on here recommend the Thunder.

Also I should mention if you're not a fan of the magazine safety you can easily remove the bar and curved metal piece that enable it. Now I can work the action without a mag inside. Not really that important for the range but if you have one in the chamber and drop the mag in a SHTF scenario you can still shoot that last bullet which is nice to know.

How many rounds have you put through it?
Most of what I hear is pretty minor stuff in the grand scheme of things. Small parts breakages, qc slip-ups. Much better then taurus at least but still enough to give me pause.
Honestly, my main gripe is the price. I'm a massive turbojew and was fine with them when they were sub $300 new but these days they can easily get over that. I just don't think they're worth it.
Also I'm butthurt that they used to offer steel framed models but now it's all alloy

Maybe a thousand? Not too many honestly. It definitely kicks like a mule so it's not always the most fun to shoot but I still like it. Has a good feel and weight to it compared to most full size handguns I still prefer it. I paid 289 on budsguns for mine, after tax it was over 300 but yeah I wouldn't pay more than that for it. It's a neat little gun but it's not great or anything.

>maybe a thousand
Not too shabby. most people don't seem to shoot theirs much because .380 is nearly the price of .45 for diet 9mm and they don't have a kinky fetish for straight blowback recoil like you or me.
Cute mustang, by the way. how's it treating you?

Decent. Makarov DA trigger is heavy, but tolerable.

SA is good.
