Beretta. Better quality than either one and you can currently get a new one for only like $400.

In my opinion, the Ruger SR9 has weird weight distribution.

If you want a striker-fired polymer pistol I like the M&P series. I should've mentioned that in the first post.

>>34091289
Funny coming from germany, thats good irony.

Glock, a pistol that is ready to go once drawn. No secondary safety to remember. Excellent reliability over the long term. If you ever have issues send it to glock and they will fix for free. I drove to smyrna and showed up at the gate one day, got right in and saw an armorer in minutes. My gen 1 needed some updates after daily carry for 25 years. 40 sw is good caliber in tradeoff for stopping plus mag capacity.

Function over Form. Do you want to use the thing in life or death situations or look at it and admire it?

Glock arguably makes better pistols.

Ruger is better if you like revolvers. I love my GP100 and LCR.

I'd take the glock over the sr9 any day because of that stupid huge loaded chamber indicator on EVERY sr9 sold, even in states where it isn't required.

Also:

>striker fired
>manual safety
>>
>>34092169
Seconding the Ruger customer service. I've only dealt with Sig, Glock, HK USA, and Ruger, really, but between those four Ruger wins, hands down no questions.

>>34092201

I have grown to appreciate a silent physical brass check

Thumb safeties, because you absolutely must use them 100 perfuckingcent of the time if a gun has one. Just leave it off you shit weasels, the ruger is a better pistol.

Ruger customer service is pretty shit in my experience. I got the LCP 2 right when it came out and a few days later it was rusting. I cleaned it, oiled it. The rust went away for a few days and the rust came back. Ruger's response was "did you oil it?" The thing requires constant attention to keep the rust off and Ruger refused to do anything for me beyond that. So it sits now.

What the fuck, old fudd? You wash it with soap, water and a steel wire brush?
I have 2 LCP 2's and not a spot of rust.
>buh buh but mine is ruh ruh rusting
Yeah. Yours. Nobody else's.
Shit owner and stupid, stupid, stupid user. Period. End of discussion.
Negligent noguns user can't take care of it properly and destroys his LCP. Now he wants Ruger to pay for it. No. It's your fault and what you are doing is the same as shoplifting.

I got an SR9 yesterday.

Feels much better in the hand and read had nothing but good experiences in the past.
>>
>>34097840

why not the compact ?

why not the 9e ?

i'm still pondering this myself
>>
>>34097840
Good choice
>>
>>34098242
I am not the anon you are asking, but answering anyway for my own reasons.
>why not the compact ?
I have SR9, SR9C, SR40C. Need the full sized SR40 and SR45 still. I CCW the 9C & 40C. The full sized are home and vehicle guns for me.
>why not the 9e ?
I didn't need to save a few bucks. I know 2 people with the 9e and they pump hundreds of rounds through theirs each month. It's a good gun. Only comes in black oxide. I do prefer the two tone look, personally.
>>
>>34098242

I wanted a full size.

The E also has some weird features and I wanted the "full" version. If that makes sense.
>>
>>34091288
I wish Ruger would make some effort to improve the SR line, such as making the LCI more low key, making the thumb safety more ergonomic and then maybe boosting the durability(not that they're fragile)...then advertising that fact like everyone else.
